Just got my B service done at an Indy shop. Brought my own oil. Bought the Air and cabin air filter on Amazon. Had some blue brake fluid in stock so brought that in as well for a brake fluid drain. Cost for labor was $60. Paid $60 for 8 quarts of Royal Purple 5w40. Filters were a package deal for $40 and brake fluid I had from my previous cars.

Great price but why did you use unapproved fluids? Let's hope that you don't have any lubrication caused issues under warranty. At that point you'll have to prove that you used approved fluids.

Yeah I hear you about unapproved fluids. I have always been a Red Line and Royal Purple fan. Even though they don't have the certs, in my opinion they are heads and shoulders above something like Mobil 1 0w40. I also do a UOA(used oil analysis) on every drain so I have that as back up if a warranty issue comes up. Never had an oil related issue with any car. Hope to keep it that way.

Don't I feel I go to a dealer every time.

You think MB is bad though, Porsche dealer I go to (same company as the MB just different branch) My 30k service was your normal fluid check, filter check etc. but here's the part. They said my brake pads were getting thin and had to replace them.

Total charge? $1,900

For fluid chances, tire alignment and brake pads? Stealership is right.

Any pointers on how to find a reliable indy shop? Definitely can't afford this after I retire in a few years.
