SQUEAKY BRAKES

Purchased 2011 E550 on January 1.

At 9,500 miles the dealer replaced all four rotors and the pads because of excessive runout causing pulsing. Brakes have been great since.

Now, at 15,000 miles the brakes squeak in garage, driveway, parking lot situations. Really annoying, and a bit embarrassing.

What is your experience with MB re: squeaky brakes? Do they address it as a defect and take care of it? Or do they try to blow it off? (I'm a very conservative driver --- the brakes are never abused.)

(I haven't had squeaky brakes in the last 5 new cars I've bought over the last 20 years --- in fact, can't recall it in the 20 years prior to that!)

You might ask the dealer if the "tech" used brake paste on the backings of each pad. Most common cause. You should not have squeaky brakes, especially coming from a dealer brake job.
If it was squeaking from the beginning I would have thought maybe a little break in was due.But from what you're saying,it could be paste missing or not enuff used.

IMHO of course.

The brakes sound like they have some glazing upon them. How is the car washed? Any chemicals used on the wheels that may get onto the brakes? When the brakes/rotors were replaced, did you bed the pads in properly or just drive it without adhering to a break-in type of period? As stemags said, the brake quiet on the rear of the pads will eliminate harmonics, but you've put a lot of miles for this to suddenly occur.

Thanks,

I bedded the brakes when they were replaced.

Watching and waiting . . .

Don't know about Canada, but my dealer first claimed a 10,000 mile warranty on brakes. But the book says 12,000. I don't know about time, though.
