Multifunction Display--icon meaning?

I just picked up a 2012 E350 Tuesday (Wifey's Christmas present), and I think I've sorted out all the features, but one little detail has me stumped. What is the icon in the bottom of the Multifunction Display in the center of the speedometer that looks like the front of one car about to run into the back of another car?

BTW, this is our fourth E350 (2003, 2006, 2009), and while all of them were good, this one is a big step ahead in build quality, ride, quietness, and overall performance.

Pretty sure that's related to the Distronic cruise control. I have yet to use mine so I've never seen it activated.

If the icon is in the lower left of the display, it means that the pre-safe break is enabled. If it comes on momentarily in the main part of the display, it is telling you that distronic cruise control is activated and is giving you a graphical indication of your distance relative to the car in front of you. It usually comes on when you set or change the cruise control. You can also set it to display this info semi-constant.

Have fun with your new wheels. Best to learn about all ths stuff on a safe untraveled road.

Thanks!

It is the indicator that Pre-Safe braking is enabled.
