sorry to say but the rear is more like an older kia/hyundai than audi . to be very honest, i'm not a big fan of our current w212's rear from day one but not against it neither. i personally think w/o the spoiler, the trunk looks a bit droopy. after adding a trunk spoiler is a total different story, though. i think it lifted the trunk line a bit and looks much better.

Yeah, a spoiler is a must on the 212's rear. Looks almost "empty" without it. However, it is a very classical and purposeful M-B utilitarian Sedan rear. For those who are enthusiasts of the car, and are into bringing out the spice within the design, a spoiler is a great and simple way to practically transform that rear into looking hot.

i've talked to a w212 owner and he has the same feeling as mine about the rear but he's not really into cars nor mods. but after he saw i added the trunk spoiler, he ordered one right away .

I assume that MB have average 5 years cycle for full model upgrade, so new E class we can expect only as 2015/2016 model. So 2014 facelift can be only for people who can't wait to get real new model in 2015

Actually, W124 lasted longer than most MB models . So, I think W212 is a very successful model and I see no point of making a new model just because the car is 7 yrs old .
If sales good, you have good customer feedbacks and brand spanking new customers why make new model
I looked at the upcoming E Class (not facelift) and I am fairly disappointed Hood integrated grill seems no longer available . Instead , front bumper cover and grill are entegrated just like new BMW 5 Series .These kinda mods look cheaper in my opinion
Rear tail lights ...For some angles , I like them much but point yourself right in the middle of trunk and a few meters away from the car, they look kinda rough because of rear bumper design .
The reason is rear bumper should have protruded a few centimeters all the way across tail lights just E did in earlier models

I would think a true enthusiatst would like the basic design. To me, I only change things I am not "enthused" about. I personally have not found anything that I would really wish to change in the manner of say a spoiler, or side marker lights, etc.

Doesn't all E63'S come stock with the rear trunk spoiler??? Because that car doesn't look like a Ricer to me. The W212 with the sport package looks so much nicer with the trunk spoiler. The luxury model doesn't need it in my opinion, just to go with the less sporty theme. Another area where its just up to the owner.

I was too harsh with the 'ricer' comment. There is a difference between genuine MB mods, and aftermarket mods. Generally I prefer cars in stock form. 'Modding' more often than not cheapens and spoils the intended appearance of a car, especially on a new current model. I don't understand the need to radically alter the look, but each to his own!

Ha ha. I think the W123 was one of the longest amongst "Executive" class Mercedes. Other than yellow foglights, new headrests, new A/C controls, and an electric right hand mirror it lasted nearly a decade without body changes.

Ok. Trying to understand if the new facelift is that different from the current w212.
Certainly the headlights are noticable, but anything else really noticeable?
What the heck are pontoon (spelling?) fenders. I don't see a difference from the current fenders to the facelift pictures?
What do you guys think?

The bulging rear fender of the W212 is a design tribute to those vintage cars.

The W204's and W221's are actually not "Ponton" fenders, however. They're more simply bulged around the edge of the fenders. The Ponton fender is more of a hard crease that starts from the rear decklid, and flows into the door, before taking a turn downwards and ending toward the rocker panel.

Thanks for the clarification K-A . Let me correct what I meant was that I wondered why they did call the design as pontoon because that term is mainly used in house styling ports lol .So, I had no sense at all untill I read the message above
