picture 1 (left), is a rear 20x9.5 et33 with 265/30-20 - it protrudes past fender by 5mm (I measured), so to be flush for 20x10 with same tires, you will need to be at et44 (+/- 2mm);
picture 2 (right), is a front 20x8.5 et32 with 235/35-20 - it is fender flush.

1. Any time you go wider (up to a point), handling should always improve.
2. Tire wear/alignment (possible issues) are unknow at the moment since I just put them on about a month ago and did only about 600 miles so far. Any tire wear is of a secondary importance for me since I replace tires a lot earlier than they're "due" in order to alway keep wet traction at its most possible pick.
3. You can "instantly" improve your stance by adding 10mm rear and 5mm front spacers (with correspondingly longer bolts) to your current wheels.
What are your tire dimensions and wheel dimensions?
