I think maybe just mid-later build 2011's got the updated Comand? Mine is a 3/11 build and has the Bluetooth Streaming and V2 updates.

I think I'm a late 2010 calendar year build. Guess my car left the party before it got going good. Wish I could come up with a good argument for my dealer to do the update for free. I'm reading the update costs $250. Probably should just ask... might be much ado about nothing. (boy am I naive).

I seem to remember some people getting a free COMAND update after complaining to their dealers about phone quality. I think the problem was the other party couldn't always hear clearly while the reception in the car was fine.
Perhaps if you were to suddenly develop that problem you could get an upgrade.
This may seem slightly larcenous but it just doesn't seem right that people with the same model year car don't all have the same features.

Don

Precisely. My car had several comand problems that simply could not be replicated by the tech. The radio would unmute at ridiculous volume, the rear camera would stay on in drive, lots of weird stuff that never happened twice. The easiest route was to update everything. I am happy that it seems to have worked.

If you knew what socialism is then you would probably prefer it.
Ignorance is what makes propaganda work.
The real difference between capitalism and socialism is regulation. But, even if all the deregulation in the US of the past few decades were to be put back in place, the result would still be capitalism. Socialism would only be realized when workers are able to keep a higher percentage of their production instead of it being fed to the top. CEOs make many times more than their workers even compared to just 30 years ago. There is a catalyst that drives this, but we can leave that for another topic.
Capitalism is bottom feeding -- the people on the bottom feed the people on the top. This is a finite system. It will fail when the people on the bottom are no longer able or willing to feed the people on the top. The only prevention to failure would be to increase the size of the pie. This failure most recently occurred in 2008. Capitalism in the US lived another day because the US Treasury increased the size of the pie. Some day the US Treasury will no longer be able to intervene.
OTOH, socialism is a regulated economic system where wealth can still be acquired, free markets still exist, but the economic path is broader and more fluid. Such a system is more sustainable because more people are able to participate.

Study this nighttime satellite photo of part of northeast Asia and see which areas,if any, practice capitalism and which,if any, live under socialism. And after having done that we'll talk about the Berlin Wall.

Once you understand, propagand becomes less effective.

Anyone have any advice on how I might convince my dealer to install a Command update for free so that I might be able to enjoy pandora via bluetooth? I'm not so keen on paying ANOTHER $250 after paying $55K.
If someone has unrelated problems with their Command, they get the bluetooth update for free. I've not had problems, so I'm SOL? Is that some sort of warranty discrimination?

See my post on 3/4 on this string.
The navigation simply does not work correctly. Before update in both of my cars I could not use the "Map" tab at the bottom of the screen when selecting stopover points. The "Map" tab shows you the selected stopover point on the map before you actually select it as a stopover point. Also "Call" tab did not work.
After update all these are fixed.
Try it in your car. Set the navigation to some location and while driving set a stopover point. For example, select gas stations and it gives you a list of gas stations ahead and behind you. When you scroll thru them it shows a circle on the screen but the screen is very small so you really can't tell how the gas staion is located.
On the bottom of the screen on left there is a tab "Map". You should be able to selects this "Map" tab and it would show the gas station that currently is under the round dot on the map before you actually select it as a stopover point. This is a very handy feature when driving on interstate and just want to make a quick stop at a the gas station as you can seed the gas station on the map, i.e. if it is too far from your route. If it is a mile off the way you just go back and select another one and you can look at it before selectiong it.
This function did not work in my cars before the update. The "Map" tab was on screen but was crayed out and inactive.

listerone,
This topic does not belong here and I did not want to take part in it but after your last post I just have to.
You seem to think socialism and communism are one and the same. You could not be more wrong.
Communism and socialism have very little in common at all.
You obviously have never lived in any Western European country. They all are socialistic countries.
Socialism and capitalism have differences but they actually are very much alike. The difference between the systems in my opinion is that under socialism you actually take care and help your fellow country men and under capitalism it is "all for yourself".
This country (U.S.) is slowly dying because of this and the biggest problem for this is the healthcare. Why don't people understand that you can still have a capitalism even if you would provide healthcare for all people like the other civilized countries do?

Where do I state in either of my two e-mail my preference? It is clear that you jump to conclusions and form opinions about anything and everything your read. That must include opinions and preferences about socialism.
Clearly the propoganda is working on you!!!
I agree, this topic belongs in another forum.

Just curious when you do bt streaming how do you select song? Do you use COMMAND or you have to use phone controls? If second, then you are out of luck in California since phone controls using while you drive is against the law.

but really,
is the navi really that bad? i recently had someone tell me on a forum that MB nav kills BMW's i-drive.
i told him he was nuts..
is there anyone who agrees with him?
i havent taken delivery of my car yet so dont have much experisnce eith the navi but the i drive is quite impressive - super wide screen, incredible graphics. ( and they even have cameras on the side of the car as well as front and rear, and your shown an overhead view of your car and everything around you. this really looks cool, for parallel parking etc...)
does any merc have this?

I saw a video for CLS , I believe it was 2012 and parallel parked on its own the was new
Ford Focus does
This system alone is better than solely find you parallel parking areas lol
