Finally Going To Pull The Trigger!!!

Hi All, my wife is ready to trade in the Lexus boat SUV for a new E350.... this is my first post here and would love a little help from you! She wants white... but which white is classier... i know we should figure it out for ourselves... but curious what you all think. ALSO, what is the best way to package this vehicle out... sport , or non sport... and what about interior color. This is our first MB... we have had several BMW... but she just fell in love with the ride of the Benz! Any help or pictures would really be great... we plan to buy this vehicle by this weekend. Regards, Scott~

I have 2008 528I and was going to trade it in for 2012 BMW but I went for E350 BlueTec and I love it. MBZ has better sound system, instrument cluster details, no stupid battery problems like BMW, super fuel mileage and lower maintenance.

Welcome!

Sports are much more widely available than the luxury if you are planning to buy this weekend. There are some comfort differences but its mostly cosmetic differences besides the 17" wheels on the luxury vs. 18" on the sport. You can search there is much debate on 17" vs. 18". I went for the luxury as the advantages of the 18" wheels aren't that great for me as I wanted the care more for comfort and cruising than spirited driving. Also like the small luxury styling touches more (extra bar on the grille, more fake chrome).

Colors will be a personal choice and you should really drive to the different dealers to see them in person. Personally I wasn't into the white color on the E-class until I saw Diamond white in person and went for it i liked it that much. However its rare to find Diamond too if your in a hurry.

Mercedes e350 BlueTec
why pay for paint....the standard white is beautiful...almost an ivory. Being in Florida, I opted for the light beige interior MB-Tex, also standard. Thought about seat ventilation, but it isn't cooling, it's just ventilation and requires leather seats. I had ventilation on my infiniti M37 but I don't miss it on the e350. I also don't miss leather..my ego doesn't need it. The headlights included in the P2 package are incredibly good...I have never seen the road as well.

I went in to buy a gas e350, walked out with a Bluetec. It was significantly less to lease (24 months) than the gas car...and it drove beautifully, while being less costly to run. I love the car. It's a luxury and rides beautifully. Both sport and luxury bluetecs come with 17" tires. You should at least drive one before you buy a gas e350...you might be very surprised....

Other decisions on options are really up to you...fold down rear seats sounded good to me at the time....I've never used them. The only option I wish I had purchased was blind spot assist...I'll get that on the next one.

Unless your wife is 80 years old, buy the Sport with premium package 2 and pano roof. The new metalic white paint looks great and will be on my next car. Also 4 Matic is a must if you live in a northern climate.

2012 E350 4matic
i personally have seen both whites... i wouldnt pay the extra coin for the metallic white. the artic is great as i have it on my amg. as far as what i feel are must haves... sport, 4matic if you live where you might need to drive it in snow or just for the safety of it.. depends on you. P2 is a must for me. the lights are amazing. everything else is just icing on the cake IMO.

good luck i hope to get one soon as well.

As I understand it, the diesel E350s come with run flat tires. I was considering a diesel but the run flats ride harder, are sometimes hard to find and are more expensive than standard tires. Is my info correct? Thanks.

Both are good cars. I'll say if you drive, BlueTec you'll fall in love with it the more you drive it. Some people are reporting upto 40 miles per gallon fuel mileage on high way and it ain't no BS story. My friend just drove it from Irvine CAlif. to San Jose,CA with 4 people on board reporting 38 miles per a gallon of diesel.

Or if she wants a car this isn't seen around every block, get the Luxury...classier and will withstand the test of time and won't have every panel and dash rattling after 8000 miles. Anyone that puts the Luxury as 'an old person' car is at best ignorant, at worst, a moreon. Based on previous posts, I am going with moreon for pete....

Why do not just visit a dealer and drive both? Although even sport isn't firm anough for me. I liked feel of new C, hope E will get same suspenssion.

Do not forget to post pics of her when you get her from a dealer.
