It appears that if you have the Hockey Stick DRL lights. That you have to set DRL to on within the cluster and also have the regular lights set to A (Auto). Mines (DRLs) have always stayed on since I've had my vehicle at all times night or day.

Maybe Konigstiger has a definitive answer. Since at least two of us on this thread don't have a problem getting them to stay on and we've both confirmed what I just typed above as being the settings that we use.

I'm not sure if the E350 has something different going on in the settings but the two of us with 2010 E550s have no issue getting them to stay on constantly.

Read the manual. But in 2010 with the four round lights, the two DRL's only come on when they are set in main menu AND the headlights are not on. When headlights are turned on, the DRL's go off. You can only turn the fog lights (other two round ones) on when you turn the headlights on.
In other words, with the 2010's with four round lights, you can never have all four round lights on. At least not as DAG/MB designed it and built it.
Incidentally, there were two types of lights in 2010. The four round ones and the L shaped hockey pucks, later replaced by straight lines. Hockey pucks and round are not the same.

I think the designer involved in making the 2010 W212 used to play (or watch) hockey a lot. .
Why would he design an "L" hockey stick shaped LED DRLs and round hockey puck shaped fog lamp / DRLs for the same car???

Sounds like your vehicle is equipped with front dual halogen fog/drl lights.. One is used as the DRL and the other as the fog lamps.. Back then they called that the P1 package....2010 E350 fogs question-photo955.jpg

Noticed last night that when I change to brights, the fogs go off. This is with the four round lights.

That is how it is supposed to be. Fog lights are supposed to be used in thick fog when the visibility is markedly reduced, to see the road edge while driving at a very low speeds whereas highs are to be used in freeways or long stretches at high speeds when there is no oncoming traffic. The use of high beams during thick fog may be detrimental to your visibility and the use of fog lights in high speed expressways has no use other than aesthetics.

That goes by the logic that if you can use hi-beams there cannot be fog (as you could not see anything) so the fog lights go out. With the hi-beams on the fog lights would not do any good anyway.

I realized that MB engineered the lights to function the way they do. Just thought it was interesting that they would actually do that.
From what I have read, high beams are bad in fog because they actually bounce off the fog and further restrict your vision.

Yes,

fog lights have a very low angles beam that does not bounce up to the driver's eyes while the DRL's have a light beam that shines in every direction. DRL's would be the very worst light to use in foggy conditions, well perhaps the high beams are but anyway.

MB engineers did not build this car for a light show. They built it for practicality, i.e. each light for a purpose. That is why there is no way to burn the fog light and the DRL at the same time.

I'd recommend opening a new thread for this sort of question next time instead of resurrecting an old one, but the part number should be 2128200756 (you'll want to double-check that). Given that, hit up eBay. If you're ok buying used, you can get them for as little as $40. Otherwise filter on New products. TYC is a pretty good choice in my experience.
