KEYES EUROPEAN REAR ENDED MY CAR DURING SERVICE!
I took my car in for service and they rear ended my bumper. The paint is cracked and so is the rear skid plate and light. They didn't even show it to me; they tried parking the car backwards so I could only see the front of the car when I picked it up for service.
Just a warning...take pictures of your car before you take it in for any service!

wtf
?! they better repair the car for you plus some compensation! btw, aren't all the service advisors walk around the cars w/the customers and the customers sign the papers? i don't think they can play dumb, right? i found out there was a ding on my previous bmw after serviced and the dealer fixed it for free.

Dude, wow. Sorry to hear this, but is there something about you or your car that magnetizes these disasters? It's unreal how many bad stories you've posted!
The more of this crap that happens to us, the more we get paranoid.... the more we get paranoid, the more this stuff somehow gets attracted to us.
I just remembered to always do a walk around with the tech to take note of the cars specific condition before I take it in.

This time, it was actually my GL. Nonetheless, they are actually playing dumb. They told me to leave with my GL and then bring it back. I laughed in their face...my car is not going anywhere until I get a statement in writing regarding what happened and what the dealer is going to do about it. They are reluctant to fix the bubbling/cracking paint on the bumper or replace the chrome. They're checking their video cameras, but I doubt they will find anything. They will then tell me the car was brought to them like that... I hate the dealership not to mention the dealer must have put this on the Carfax, ruining the value of the car as well right before they knew I was planning on trading it in for a G wagon.

Note to self: Avoid Keyes Mercedes!
Considering I've practically given my business to every M-B Dealer in Socal (except for Keyes), two in that general area that I've had good experiences with are Encino and Calabasas.

I believe these polyurethane (?) bumpers don't dent, correct? So if you don't see any warping of the shape, or any cuts in it, a new paint job should get it good as new.
Unfortunately, you now have to experience what seems to be the only downside of beautiful Diamond White paint: The paint matching issues and difficulty in doing so.

Nice! Keyes decided to keep the car but wouldn't give me a loaner for my S550 which I was also going to have dropped off for service.
Oh well, they said they could only deal with one car at a time so for the next week while they're figuring out what happened to my GL, they left me with a 2012 ML350 4MATIC with P1...not a bad car at all and actually drives better than any of my current cars. You can check my review of the new ML and how I compared it to the E and GL in the W166 thread.
I just hope the dealer won't touch up the cracking paint and replace the light bulb and take out the dent while leaving the scratches there. They better offer to let me have my own body shop take care of it while covering the bill

well, i don't know why it sounds good. they have to do this for you. they screwed it up, they clean it up. simple as that. most of the people will get a loaner while taking their cars to service. it doesn't sound too exciting unless your loaner is a sls. picking your body shop is just another thing they have to let you decide. unless they'll give you a huge discount on your future purchase or give you some compensations now, otherwise it is just something they have to do.

Update: KEYES SENT MY CAR TO A NON-MERCEDES BENZ APPROVED BODY SHOP TO GET MY GL BUMPER REFINISHED WITHOUT MY PERMISSION...
But the car came out great! They washed it though...grumble grumble...screw them for not telling me that they took my car to a body shop that wasn't even approved by Mercedes-Benz. The body shop was DM Auto Body in Van Nuys, CA . Apparently, it's INFINITI approved, but not MB approved...
I read reviews online for DM Auto Body and compared it to the dealer's MB certified body shop, which I believe is Pride Auto Body, and the reviews for DM were much higher...Maybe I can still sue the dealer in small claims court for taking my car off their lot without my written or oral consent...

You may be able to claim that you suffered loss of resale value due to the dealer's negligence. The resulting CARFAX entry alone can be worth resale $'s.
Or, if you had added expenses during the resolution of the incident, you could claim that as damages.
Whether the money or revenge factor are worth the effort to sue is up to you. One thing's for sure though, I'd stay away from that dealer in the future!
Regards,
Don

I have never in my life seen an MB approved body shop. Some dealers do have a body shop on premise. What makes a body shop MB approved? This comment struck me as so over the top that I had to call MB. MB relies on it's dealer network to know the body shops in their area and send them. There is no MB Approved body shop certification. I am glad you got your car repaired, but, the stories you spin do not always add up, or, seem to be "spiced up" for dramatic effect...lol. I do agree with K-A...you do seem to born under a bad sign...you have a lot of problems with vehicles.

This is really odd , they sent the car to non MB approved shop whereas they could find a MP approved shop according to RSKIR's message
. Good thing that doesn't mean that shop is crap and you seem to be satisfied with the result
