E550 Brakes - Number of Pumps

Is it true Mercedes has reduced the number of pumps in the W212 E550 braking system?

Reason I ask is because the brakes in this 550 seem weak and under powered in comparison to my outgoing 2009 E550. While in for service I asked them to check my braking system and the response was this: The 2011 brakes feel much different than your 2009 did because Mercedes reduced the number of pumps in the redesigned E550s.

Thanks.

HHUUMM!

What does this mean? The number of pumps on the pedal or pumps in the braking system which seems to be out of my league of expertise?

Can you explain?

I think you refer to brakes fading from use of press and release the pedal . For cars with ABS , you don't need to pump up the brakes for proper stop but honestly, I myself pump up the brakes when coming close to stops too

Maybe the service advisor was confusing the current braking system (hydraulic) with the good old SBC brakes? Your 2009 obviously didn't have SBC as they dropped it from the E-Class around 2006 model year IIRC.

At any rate, the 2012 E550 got bigger calipers versus the 2011 to address braking complaints.
