Misfire

Not being very mechanically inclined I have a question: My car was parked in my garage for a week while I was away. When I started the engine, it misfired (car shaking, choking, and then check engine light on). I turned it off and restarted it again (fine). Should I have it looked at, or no big deal with misfiring (does this happen in any car)?

It is a 2011 E350, just had 1st servicing done (20,000km)

My SL-65 did the same thing. The coil pack failed a few miles later. It will cause you more problems.

There should be a code stored in the ECU that the dealer can pull.

I had a similar event last November. The vehicle sat for a few days, started it, misfire, ran very rough, check engine light on. I turned it off, restarted it and it ran fine. No code in the ECU found.

My theory is as it sat for a few days, the fuel pressure dropped I turned the key before the fuel rails were fully pressurized. Fuel starvation of some sort.

It has not happened since.

Vehicle is a 2010 E350 4Matic.

If the car has not been used for a long time, turn the key, pause a second or two and then start it. This was true many years ago when fuel injection was a new technology

That is if my theory is correct about the lack of fuel pressure from not being used for several days.

I would like to have a technician weigh in on this.
