Did i mess up?

Hey everyone! I have a real quick question.yesterday i was backing out of my driveway and as i was backing out at about 2 miles an hour i accidently hit the parking button thus putting my car into park from 2 miles an hour. I really did not hear or feel anything unusual, just the car rocked back and fort alot more then usual. still could there been anything that could have gone wrong? And one more question is 42000 miles alot on a 2011 E ? Anyway thanks guys!!

For OP, you better switch to Blutech because this is more than an average driver's mileage

I put 29 000 miles on my 2011 E350 in 12 months. I put 10 500 miles on my 2010 E550 in 3 1/2 months.

Some of us drive more than others. The car is made to be driven so drive it. 42 000 miles on a 2011 model year car certainly is plenty more than the national average but it should be no problem at all. Get extended MB warranty though!

Since the transmission is computer controlled, I shouldn't think that it would let you go to Park at an unsafe speed.

I'm not going to test that theory for you, though.

I think you are fine. If anything was truly damaged I think you would realize sooner than later.

And yes I think 42k on a car is a lot in 1-2yrs lol. I think any reasonable person would agree lol. I have about 7k in 3 months though so far. These cars can definitely do the miles just need to pay for the filters...

I do about 30k/yr and have a bluetec. Diesels aren't fully broken in until about 60k mi. To the OP: Your car is fine. No worries.

I very literally stopped on a dime! No bad noises though except for my cursing. If I remember right, I wanted to clean the windshield, and in my old car that would have been the button I needed to push.

edit: ha, ha - I did not mean there was a dime under my tire. I meant literally as the expression goes - I stopped in a distance less than the width of a dime.

Dude you do some driving!! My 2004 e320 doesn't have 42k on her yet. My 212 was 2yrs old last month and has 7700 miles on her. Of course I have 5 cars and rotate them somewhat week to week.

I can't explain it though I may drive the E550 for a week or so I actually start to look forward in driving something different, sparks my interest in a different way, I dunno what it is. That's why I can't get rid of my E320 as I still love the car and it feels like a new car everytime I drive it. It has it's own personality and things I love about it. Then when I've driven it enough, I maticulously clean it up and put it away for a few weeks and drive something else. Everytime I crawl in the 550 I feel like I just got it. To me driving the same car day in and day out you just loose a certain amount of appreciation for it. Driving an MB is kind of like sex, if you do it day in and day out, kinda gets old, but if you do it once or twice a week, it's a real treat every time.

Well, if I had five women, er cars, I might think of one a week as a treat. But having just one car, I would think every day for a week would be quite a treat. I want more cars.

Totally agreed and I love that outlook. I hate having just one car, and am looking constantly for just the right second car. With more than one car, I can honestly say that with my "main car", I can keep it and enjoy it like it's brand new forever. I like that form of car enthusiasm. When I drive the same car all the time, no matter what it is, I get tired of it. You also save money that way as you don't get duped into that "new car smell" effect, where your psychy starts seeing what you used to find fresh as tired, and what are even realistically modest updates as "must haves" to spend more than what many people make in a year on a new car.

That's exactly the way I look at it. My wife gets on to me cause we have so many cars and never get rid of them and it's cause of this reason. I truelly enjoy a different ride from weak to weak. Some people think why would you drive your old 320 when you have a new 550 in the garage. It's a different feel, vibe, appreciation, and when it's more of a "special occasion" we take blacky. Then you just feel like a kid in a new car all over again.

Yeah, I love that approach so much.

I also like cool older cars, so I keep thinking to get an older M-B or something, which would not only stroke my M-B enthusiasm more, but would literally keep my W212 feeling like a brand new car from the future all the time. As long as a car is timeless, I can always appreciate it.
