Sold on Distronic Plus!
Just got back from a trip to South Louisiana and back for a family reunion ... And after more than 700 miles and about 12 hours of driving, I can say that I will not buy another car without the Distronic active cruise control! Most of the driving was on interstate highways, with lots of trucks ... And it was great to set the cruise control and not have to constantly kick it off when getting into traffic. Much of the time I had it set on 80, but could easily take it down to 60 with just a few flicks of the stalk when entering a work zone ... And then go with back up to speed after passing the area.
Bottom line ... I'm giving some feedback in case anyone is wavering on this option. Of course, saying I won't buy another car without Distronic means I will just have to keep buying a Mercedes Benz ... Oh darn!

not necessary have to keep buying a mb in order to get distronic. i'm sure this is just one of the many features other manufacturers will follow but just use a different name. but keep buying a mb isn't a bad thing at all, though .

There are other cars with that option as well. However, I believe MB should be the best distronic compared to others
Good to read a positive feedback on MB ,it's not a bad thing either lol

Having said that it is a shame that the Mercedes Distronic is not calibrated to avoid an accident with a pedestrian in the city. Seems like the two companies to should collaborate so you are covered in both situations

WEBSRFR: So MB did follow Volvo. Volvo's new system includes adaptive cruise and all the goodies too, but, they did pioneer the system. I had a Hyundai Genesis as a loaner car with their version of this and it worked very well. The only one I have experienced that was kind of flaky was in a friend's XK. It was very sensitive to traffic changing lanes ahead and would react too early.

Distronic plus is more than adaptive cc. It is a system that can greatly reduce forces in a crash, or sometimes prevent a crash. It works even when cc is off (as long as it itself is not turned off). I know of no other manufacturer who does the same. As previously said, Volvo's protects pedestrians more than the car's occupants (as I understand the TV commercials anyway). MB's is the opposite. It seems neither followed the other.
