Keyless Ignition
Keyless Ignition
I am ordering a 2013 E350 luxury. The dealer said that for 2013 MB is offering keyless ignition as a separate option for $650. I am seeking opinions on whether to order it. Thanks.
You'll find lots of discussion on this in prior threads. Most seem either like it or hate it. I personally love it. No fumbling with keys when you have kids, packages, etc. And you can lock the car with a hip check when your hands are full.
Some complain the battery life is short. My current battery is at 1.5 years. Will probably change as a precaution soon.

Keyless option
I would definitely advise getting the keyless option. I find it to be convenient and I utilize very much, if that price is not an issue to you then most certainly...Go For It!!!
Best of luck,

welcome duder,
oh man, a stand alone option for that is great! I never want another car without the keyless go business.......LOL....(wonder how much replacing it in the future would be if it failed, just curious)
I'd say very worth it, like tto already pointed out; the locking of the door with the hip check is awesome......

Another cool feature for keyless go is you will be able to get power close trunk sytem by a touch of a button
I was hesitant whether to go for it or no but I did
. Well, golden rule do not leave the key in the car . You could ask why should I leave
So, assuming your car in a secure place and garage kept
lol

I did not think I would care for this option until I started using it. Now I would not get another car without it. Being able to touch the door handle to lock and unlock is extremely convenient! I say go for it.

No E for me yet. Still dreaming. Maybe some day.
We are new converts to Keyless Go and Bi-Xenon headlights. Never again will be without them. If I did have to pick between them, I would keep the lights. Glad we have both.

Definitely get it! I love how the car starts itself up s both my hands are busy with the seat belt when I get in the car
Also it is so convenient for getting in and out of the car. It's little features like this that makes these cars special.

Got it as part of a package deal and initially thought what a gimmick. Now after 2 years will be ticking the Keyless Go box on the options list without a second thought. The comments about short battery life arent all bad - obviously depends how much you drive the car but I have only had to replace batteries in both keys once and it is no big deal - a few bucks for the batteries and you can easily do it yourself.
Before my wife got the car, she was not thrilled about the Keyness Go concept. Now she has the car, she loves Keyless Go and must have it in all her future cars.
My wife also told me a funny story -- One time her staff saw her locking the car by using her finger to touching the driver's door handle (that's how Keyless Go works.) Her staff, whom obviously had never heard of Keyness Go, was very amazed, "Wow! Your car recognizes your fingerprint!?"

Funny you should mention this...
You know that this "non"-feature is derived from the fact that it's actually illegal to "warm" your car in Germany. Driver has to be present in the driver's seat when starting the car (you can't even run back into the house while the car warms up). Polizei WILL ticket you on the spot! Hopefully one day M-B will come to their senses and somehow work it in as a "US-only" feature (or export only feature), like the way they manufacture different model "versions" to ship to other countries...it can only mean more $$$ in their pocket!
I've been spoiled last decade or so w/ remote start (had Viper installed w/ remote start in my 6th Gen Max and my Tahoe has GM's version in it now [w/ intelligent HVAC])... Just as you guys are addicted to "keyless go", I too can't do w/o remote start...vehicle is cool in the summer and warm in the winter when I'm ready to jump in and go!

Personally Keyless Go doesn't interest me and would never pay extra for it.
Same for remote start. EPA/NHTSA will probably outlaw it eventually anyway.
