Can the headlights be programmed to come on when locking or unlocking at night?

Don't you just hit the unlock button twice? I know that's how it works on my 211.

On my 2011 coupe when you lock or unlock the car, the headlights and Bi-Xenons would come on...On this car only the Bi-Xenons come.

if you are talking about the inner city lights, yes, they only come on when you unlock the car w/all doors open (press the unlock button twice). not the headlights, though.

What year is your E? Everything turns on when i unlock my car. Could it be a difference in the P1 vs P2? Luxury vs sport?

All the lights come on when I unlock it at night. I only have P1. I think the light switch has to be in the Auto position for this feature to work, but, I am not 100% sure about that.

only the LED strip and inner city light come on.... headlights never came on with MB.

On the older MB's the inner city light and fog lights would come on when the headlight switch was in "Auto" and you pressed unlock.

+1 it is the inner lights that come on. Plenty bright though.

A lot.
Nahh, if you go in the settings in the car, when you press the unlock button "ONCE" in the W212, the entire car would light up inside+outside, until one of the front doors are opened. In mine even if the back doors are opened, till the time the front doors are not opened the lights will not turn off, also because i have the side-mirrors open and close on unlocking and locking the car, maybe thats why...

Look in the manual under set-up. The switch has to be in Auto, but you also have to have enabled one of the items under lighting. Forget which one off-hand, courtesy or entry or something like that.
Even with the P1, all the lights come on to include puddle lamps for outside mirrors.

I believe that for 2011 models (up to 7/11 production), if you unlocked the car twice, all lights would come on.
However, for 2012, the programming has changed, so only the parking lamps and LED's come on.

I know because my neighbor's 2010 E350's headlights come on when unlocking the car, but mine or my other neighbor's 2012 don't.

My P2 2010 lights up when I hit unlock twice. Just did it to light my way to my garage. Must be a convenience setting you need to check.

weird. MB never had the headlights come on any of the cars that I had... only fog and city lights.

Thanks everyone for your comments...but I checked with the dealership and one of there tech's and the headlights don't come on when you lock or unlock the vehicle. This is one of the changes they made for 2012 model. All lights come on except the headlight.

Hmmmmm. Wonder why the changed that. I gues if the other lights come on there is no need for the mains. The running lights are pretty bright.
