H7 Bulb Retaining Clip

For those of you that have installed HID's on your E classes, did you have to modify the metal bulb holder in any way (i.e. cut a slit on the side to slip the HID wires through to the open space of the metal clip) or did you buy separate adapters? If so, which ones?

I bought an HID kit, but the connectors at the bottom of the wiring are too big for me to slide the metal retaining clip up to the bulb so I can lock the bulb into the headlight housing. Also, the rubber grommet gets in the way... Should I just force the plastic connector in by bending it and then cut the rubber grommet? I can't find specific instructions for the W212.

BTW I have the Morimoto Elite H7 system, which didn't come with adapters

Yes you have to cut a slit on the clip to get them to fit.

Thanks captj3; do you know if these clips can be sold individually? I want to keep the original ones as I need to return the car as it was at the end of the lease, yet I haven't been able to find anything on ebay or parts website...

I don't know if you can buy the separately. I would imagine you can. When I installed my HIDS the clips looked like they could be reused. You just have to slit the side if I remember correctly. They went back in with no problems, you shouldn't have any problems when returning the vehicle back to stock.
