MC3198 shows "NO CD CHANGER"
I tried all of the basic fixes. Clean, check connectors, re-position connectors, unplug for a long time to reset etc. Something has got to be really wrong with it!
What fails in this thing, and is it worth repairing? Ebay has a bunch of them, but the prices are all over the place as well as condition. I'd rather not buy one then have to hassle with returning etc. The dealer wants ~600 for it! Yikes!! The car has 68k miles on it, and that's barely breaking on for Mercedes.
Thanks for any help!

I have the same thing with the same exact problem. You can find used ones on EBay and, as you say, the price is all over the place. I have found many for $ 100 used and some "NEW" for about $ 250. So the debate I have with myself is whether to buy a used one and hope for the best or, my alternative, is to send it to Southern Electronics in Richmond, VA (804) 423-1100. They tell me that a repair is about $250 - $275. The usual problems seem to be in the motors that change the CDs, issues with the drive itself, and several others.
Let me know which way you go with this.
