Several years ago a guy told me that he never left the top down on his convertibles any more. Someone once flipped a cigarette onto drivers seat while car was parked with top down.

Buddy of mine in college always left his MG convertible unlocked "So the radio theives won't cut the top". You guessed it - they didn't even try the (unlocked) door, they cut his top and took his crappy radio

sorry to hear this happened to you....i guess this kind of stuff still happens. you should consider rocking the flat badge cuz it may happen again.

Stoopid noob question: is the "flat badge" a factory or dealer option or something aftermarket? I see a lot of references to them.... What's the deal?

aftermarket on w212. you can see tons of them either from some of the sponsors here or other places like ebay.

yes, easy swap. i can't recommend it or not as it's a personal preference. if you like it as is, don't touch it or wait until either you are getting tired of the look or you become a victim like op (knock on wood). if you search "flat badge" on this forum, you'll see lots of threads and useful info .
