Transmission Paddle shifters
Just wondering how many use the paddle shifters to reduce brake wear.
Seems to be recommended in the manual but I don't find it very useful.
Down shifting takes 2-3 clicks to have much effect in slowing from driving speed. Then you're in the wrong gear to get back to normal.
I feel my conservative driving style anticipates slow-downs and I just let
the tranny do it's job.

Same here , despite appeality of R172 AMG wheel on my car, I have not used the paddle shifters .
I know you could use tempomat stalk to slow down your car w/o using the brake pedal as well . I don't use it all either lol
7 GTronic performs a good job

Don't use them to reduce brake wear, but on rare occasions, with a long mountain downhill grade, if I'm unhappy with the car's automatic process to slow down to meet the CC speed, I'll pop the tranny down a couple gears to keep from heating up the brakes. (RARE occasions)

+1, I rarely use those things, the diesel always seems to be in the "right" gear for the job.
