i drive them all, fast and hard
SOS and wrench buttons
so ive never really pressed them even with the plethora of mercs we have had....
what do they do, i assume the sos is only gonna work with mbrace?

I wouldn't count on the little wrench button doing much after you cancel mbrace although, in theory, it should still work. I've never tried it and I cancelled mbrace at the end of the trial period.

It won't work because without the suscription you lose the tel connection. Best to put Roadside Assistance number in your telephone book for easy access. That is why most of the stuff offered by MBrace is redundant. POI will give you most of the information you need.
