Hi all new Benz owner here....just had a little girl and found baby seats not so compatible with 2012 Audi s4.... Just traded it with less then 10k on a new e550.....so excited ....Ordered a 2013 palladium on ash p2, driver assist, panoroof heated sterring power side shades, only option i did not get was air ride.....been in contact with my friend at MB the car was finished two weeks ago shipped 14th scheduled at port tomorrow should have it in hand bye weekend i hope.....anyone pick up a 2013 yet???? Anyone know if there are any slight changes??? I plan on grille replacement. Any advice or things I should know???

 

congrats on both the baby girl and new ride ! i think no one in the world has a better feeling than you do now. afaik, i think you are probably the first member here has a 2013. please post some pics when you have it in the next few days. welcome aboard!

 

Congrats, since you have driver's assistant package , aftermarket grill does not sound like a plan . Don't be upset OEM grills 3 or 4 slats have better looking than giant star grilles

 

Anybody know whats the difference for the exterior between the 2012 and 2013?

 

Thanx bm2bz I am on top of the world right now.....55tech and formymercedes.com both have grilles that are distronic compatible. Have had audis for years and know the whole match AM parts to specific options.......mbusa has all 13 models up to look at no change.....I read all the "spy" articles.....some of them as young as yesterday they all still say it will be redesigned.....but Benz site has them up with no change at all.....kinda bummed would have had a 12 but was told to wait cause of changes......now no changes......but I got every option the way I wanted......still can't wait

Congrats pesh iam glad your wait is over. When i read your post i called my dealer to see if mine made it here to. But it didnt car is built waiting to be assigned a ship. So another 2 or 3 weeks for me. Well enjoy your ride and also congrats on the baby. Now you will have 2 to take care of.

 

Great setup! One question, i thought airmatic came standard on 550s? Did that change in the '13s?

 

In the US, Airmatic is a special order item. If you are ordering an E550, make certain to check with your CA on the special order items. Some CAs don't even know about them until you ask them.

Congrats to the OP. The E550 has a lot of power.

 

Oh, as for the 2013 changes. I read somewhere that they have changed the color scheme for the LCD in both the instrument cluster and the navigation. No longer that yellow color but a neutral color. Also, they relocated the cruise control lever.

OP can confirm once he gets his 2013.

 

Dennisnyc40 FYI mine had a ship date of the 14th and arrival of the 26th....it was scheduled for build on the 9th.... So def 12 days for boat at least....good luck....

Xolinlevh. No air matic is not standard....and for some reason I can no longer find any mention of it on mbusa......not sure know it was in the computer as a 1900 option...

wow didnt know that. mine has it built in (atleast i think it does, i can change the suspension settings from airmatic sport to comfort)

 

I was in a new 2013 E550 this past Monday, and can confirm that the navigation LCD has a better color to it. Looks almost HD. I got a killer deal on the 2012 with lots of options, and negotiated that one instead. Congrats on your purchase, it is truly a bad *** ride.

i think airmatic suspension is standard on the E's except the amg, which has a coilover set up in front,

is the 2013 a 4 matic only

 

I saw it in the computer at the dealership for sure it is a special order option now...I know it used to be standard in 2011 they made it a option and in 2013 model they made it special order item...and yes 2013 e550 is 4matic only....


I can't figure out why mecedes does not offer AMG models in 4matic....most exotics now are awd.....Lamborghini, Porsche,ferrari, gt-r......I would have loved to have gotten a e63 black 4Matic if they made it

 

Ahh, well airmatic or no, E550s are sweet *** cars, huge congratz the the OP your gonna love it! Not exactly sure about vs a S4, but my '11 550 smoked a S5, and with the new bi-turbo in the 13s....can only be better!

 

Just got a text from my friend current states is "Customs Cleared"......should be at dealer any day now.....

Someone post a pic of that new I/C display. Too much bronze in the last one indeed (warming color to the eye but also not the greatest color), so it should be a nice update if they get the color right.

 

I was hoping to get my car next week so I could drive it to Pittsburgh....I am in Philly area.....but my boy at MB says this is probably not gonna happen, anyone ever been thought this with merc....do you know how long from "cleared customs" to dealership......also how come there are hundreds of views and only 20 replies???

 

I am also waiting on a 2013 550 which completed production on July 18. Still showing as produced but not shipped. My dealer contact said that you can expect at least a 2 week period from arrival at port to arrival at the dealership. Depends on the number of cars at the VPC as well as if you add any VPC options such as illuminated doorsills which add time at the processing center.

System updated dealer arrival eta 8/3/2012.....should be in it by next Saturday....

A poster over in the coupe/cab thread stated on 7-21 that his car has been sitting in Port of Hallifax. He was told by his dealer that Mercedes is not delivering the '13's at this time. No reason given. He has not posted since then that he took delivery.
