Tires-Mich Prim MXM4 vs Mich Pilot Sport A/S+
Hi,
I'm looking at swapping out tires when my E350 Sport Wagon arrives. 18" AMG replica sport wheels.
95% chance it will come with Conti Pro Contacts, 245/40-18. They are fine tires but I'm partial to Michelin.
Choices are Mich Primacy MXM4s and Mich Pilot Sport A/S+ and Mich Primacy MXV4s.
Anybody have experience with either or both (I added MXV4s as they are highly rated)?
I'm most concerned with :
1. Noise level. I'm guessing the Pilot Sport A/S might be quieter than the tread pattern looks like it would be.
2. Ride comfort. With the 18" wheels the sidewall is very narrow and I want to ease the stiff ride, if possible. If there was a 17" AMG style wheel option with the sport exterior details, I would have gone for that and the wider tire sidewalls/ better ride.
3. Treadwear I'd like the tires to last for awhile.
thanks for any comments on your tire experience

Both Tire Rack and Consumer Reports have reviewed all three of those tires over time, with info. on the exact parameters you are most interested in plus additional criteria. May be worth a look.

Free and comprehensive. They also sell the tires.

You may need to be a subscriber to get their testing info. Alternatively, you can read their test results in their hard copy magazines in most any free public library.
Also check mbworld's Tires forum:

Good luck.

While both of these tires were on my list, I went with Cooper RS3-A (the all season variant). I have been very happy with these tires. Really great wet traction. They get decent reviews and are considerably less expensive. Nice looking profile too.
