anybody else getting noise from steering wheel?
Hi guys,
As I was parking earlier tonight I noticed that at low speeds my steering wheel makes a weird, as I can only describe it, whipping sound. What I can compare it most closely to is how it would sound if you were pulling in a clothes line. I recognized this sound right away as I've heard it before in rental Chevy Cavaliers and Impalas that I've had in the past but never in any of my Benzes. This is personally my 4th brand new Mercedes and the 10th plus in my family and none of them have ever made this sound during steering at low speeds. My 11' w212 certainly didn't make this sound and I don't see why my 12' w212 would. Before I take it to the dealership is this a sound that anyone else is experiencing, especially those who have a 2012? I find that I am going to have a hard time accepting this from a car of this class.

Steering wheel noise in E350
Hi, I am also experiencing a grinding noise in my E350 2012 when the steering wheel goes up and down as I come in/out of the car. I took it to the delar and what they did is poke a hole (yes, poke a hole) at each side of the wheel to add lubricant. After two weeks the noise is back and I am going back to the delar on Monday.
Has anyone experience this. From what the service guy mentioned it seems to be common. I am just upset that they poke a hole to add lubricant.

I just bought my 2012 E350C and this morning I noticed a very annoying rattle type noise coming from the steering wheel, my car came equipped with lane assist and blind spot assist, but I have it disabled and the rattle from the steering wheel is very much like when lane keep assist is activated. It rattles and shakes just like an XBOX controller, except now it is only making a rattling noise when going over small bumps and cracks on the road.
have any of you experience this type of rattle noise from the steering wheel when driving over small cracks on the road ?

The "whipping sound" is normal, grinding and creaking is a problem with the steering column gear or boot... Both have bulletins per koenigster. I had my 2014 steering column entirely replaced to fix it ... A $3000 job, so don't be surprised if they just "poke holes" and lubricate to save money

My rwd e350 was making a rubber against rubber sound in the steering. They replaced a steering shaft seal that holds in lubrication i guess. Thought for sure it was in the column. It was covered by my carmax insurance. Would've cost $600 including an alignment.

Resurrecting an old thread. I've been getting intermittent rubbing noise on my 2016 when turning left, nothing going right. I can go for days without getting it and then it just shows up.
