Something seems strange with the way the car behaves. But that door/woman collision looks very real.
I believe the w212 without the 7g transmissions have the traditional MB shifter correct? noticed this in taxis in europe. I Imagine those shifters can't go into park when the door is open?

I just took delivery of my used 2011 E350 Bluetec. I was in the parking lot, and I was messing around with opening the door to see if it would jump automatically into Park. It did.. But a short time later I was showing the Wife, and it wouldn't jump into Park. I don't get it.. Thinking, maybe I didn't have the Engine running when It was jumping into park. Have to do some more investigating.

I also found inconsistency too. Could not get it to uniformly jump into park?

My 2010 E550 jumps into park with door opening only if the engine is not running or more accurately if the key is not in position 2. Have tested this many times and that is it.
In the woman's case it seems the car had to malfunction. If the car was running when she left the car with the door open it should have gone into park, but obviously was not as it started rolling. When she opened the door it slammed into park. Why would it jump into park when she opened the door but would not be on park when she clearly left the door open when she left the car? I think the car malfunctioned here.
Her car must be one of those that goen on park when door is opened regardless if the engine runs or not.
MB has some explaining to do with this one.

I was messing around with mine again today, and it consistently went into P when I opened the door while the engine was running. I also couldn't get the hold function to work. Does the 2011's have the Hold function?

Whatup all. Funny vid. Also funny that the guy got into the car instead of tending to the girl...
I can drive my car with the door open. When i open the door while in drive, all the car does is throw up a red warning in the cluster without throwing the car in park...

EmE247,
That is interesting.. Because my car throw itself to park immediately.

I had a 2011 E350, I now have a 2010 E550. Both of these cars DO NOT jump on Park with door opening unless the engine is off (or key not in pos. 2).
Seems MB changed this for the 2012.

I've been testing the Auto-Park, and it seems random. One time I'll try it with the engine running, and it will go into park consistently, and a little later I'll try the same thing, and I only get the red warning in the instrument cluster saying; door is open, and vehicle is not in Park. I'm only guessing, but I think mine is a Late 2011 model 2011-2 (2nd Bluetec Run?). I guess there was a running change in the model year with the Door-Park situation. But how the car is determining when to shift into park is puzzling. I did try putting it in Neutral, and then open the door to see if I could send it through one of those pull-through car washes.. It went into Park automatically. So I guess I won't be going through the car wash until I figure this out.
