I would guess that you blew the fuse. The cig lighter works by shorting positive to negative through a coil. When you dropped your dime it provided a direct short and blew the fuse.

Yep. I had a penny in the lighter socket in my old car. Changed the fuse 3 times before I figured out the problem.

1) remove dime
2) make sure one has multiple fuses
3) change fuse

gotta go find the manual and see where they hide the fuses for this thing...

it hasnt seemed to affect anything else, so maybe this fuse is isolated to the cig lighter

I wonder what a dealer would charge to remove you dime and replace your fuse.

Wanted to hardwire mine, ended up running a long phone cord from trunk's lighter outlet all the way to the driver visor!

Has anyone used V1's new Savvy? Seems to eliminate the lighter requirement as it plugs directly into the car's ODB.

$199.90. The dealer keeps the dime.

As frightening as that number is, you are probably low.

Based on owner's manual, fuse box in engine compartment & one in the trunk area. I would think somewhere in the trunk fuse box would be cigarette fuse, but who knows.

I have done it more than once. The dealer will replace the fuse for free.
After that remember where the fuse is. The spares fuses are with the spare tire kit.

Distronic+ interferes with K band, I have my V1 K band turned off for that reason.

There are other threads on this, I understand unless you do a custom installation buying a bypass module from Midcity combined with certain model of Passport detectors, we are out of luck?

I have the Escort 9500 ix and it does not interfere with my Distronic Plus.

Very seldom I get K-band alarm like when I have parked my car facing a wall and at start-up it sometimes gives a couple of beeps but other than taht no problem at all, which then leads to my question if the detector is working ok?

I do get K-band alarms on road and then there is a cop or in most cases a digital speed display at the side of the road.

Ka-Band, which is most common in cop cars alarms way out if they have it on. This one works very well.

With the 9500 CI Escort, you need to has a additional black box installed for the laser jammer to work with distronic . Check with mfgs.

Did you know that there a chart of all fuse locations, fuse numbers and functions of each one? It's where the spare tire is...or would be if your vehicle doesn't have one.
