Ways to prevent front windows tint checking?

Hey guys, I was wondering about this for a while. Here in California, front tint windows are technically illegal even though half of us do still tint it. I am wondering, is there any way to prevent a ticket against it?

For example, the police pulls you over for lets say speeding. You put down your window half way and he sees the tint on the other half. He then gives you a ticket for the tint.

Now this time, you get pulled over for speeding again. What if you put down BOTH of the front windows before he walks to your car? Does he have the authority to make you put your windows up to check if it is tinted or not? Can you simply say,"No I will not put up my windows"?

Just curious on this one.

You should post this on the Legal Zoom forum. A police officer can put you through a "routine safety check" at his discretion.

I've been pulled over for having tinted windows... it is reason enough.. FWIW though I've had tinted windows for over 25 years and been only pulled over twice. Once I piad the ticket and the other time I had a Dr RX for it... no ticket that time. I refer to it as my tint tax...
