speed dial a phone number

speed dial a phone number
on my old phone there was the traditional speed dial where i can just press a number and press call and it would call. in the car i could keep the phone in my pocket, press the tele button, press a number, then press send and it would dial.
my new phone, which is the galaxy nexus doesnt have that traditional speed dial. instead they have this direct dial thing that lets me add phone numbers to my home screen. so basically now i have to play with a touchscreen just to make a call.
is there anyway i can just add a couple phone numbers to the car and just use a 1 button speed dial? anyone here have a galaxy nexus, how do you deal with this?

With my BlackBerry 9900 and 2012 E, I programmed one of the buttons on COMAND to speed dial, if I press and hold, it dials for me, forgot how I did it though..
