New wheels and snow tires, pics...
So with living in New England, and my Bluetec being RWD, I decided that four snows made a lot of sense.
After getting advice from you all that unmounting and remounting the run-flats twice a year would be a mistake, I decided to get four new wheels and four new TPMS as well.
I tried to go through my M-B dealer, and he told me to stick with tirerack, he was too expensive. When I pushed, he quoted $4500 for my OEM wheels, tires and TPMS'.
Tirerack was at $1500 for the least expensive wheels, I upgraded some and ended up with Axis XMX MGS wheels, 235/45R-17 Blizzak LM-60, mount, balance, center caps and lug nuts for $1700.
I went with the grey to look a little different, and also to hide the brake dust.
I like it!
Since I now do not have run-flats I had them throw one of my old wheel/tires in the trunk. I lose space but gain peace of mind.
(gotta grey out the side markers, now they look REALLY bad)

Hey that looks excellent! If I were still doing the winter switch thing, I'd definitely consider those wheels and a Tirerack package.
Did you use the Tirerack recommended installer? I always used my MB service dept., only because their equipment and skill assured an absolutely perfect balancing job with never any vibration or wheel damage. (I did not have winter wheels; tires had to be de- and re-mounted. Never resulted in any problems, but admittedly was a pain in the neck). And they only charged me $25/wheel, everything included, which seemed reasonable for perfect work.
Nice choice. Will look great going through all the white stuff.

And the new stuff came all mounted and balanced and TPMS'd, it was a quick swap and go.

Looks great, and an awesome deal!!! How's the noise of the tires?

[quote=Tomspo04;5421439]Honestly, barely noticeably louder than the run-flats. I have put about 150 miles on them so far.
What is noticeable is that the ride is much smoother, it handles the bumps in the road much better. I don't notice any difference in cornering ability, but I am also not power sliding around I-95 entrance ramps.
No, I bought the car CPO in February 2012 with about 20K on the odometer, and the dealer had put brand new run-flats on it before delivery. What with so little winter left and new tires, I didn't do anything last winter.
