Find a shop that is MB certified for painting is one path. Or check with your local dealers and find out who they use.

I needed my rear bumper replaced and painted. I searched out a local body shop that specializes in BMW's, Porsches, and MB's. They did a great job that you can't tell it was replaced.

The local MB dealer uses a ford dealers body shop for their needs

Is it a metallic paint? Metallic paint is extremely difficult to get right. A high end body shop or a high custom painter will help return your car to new status.

There's nothing like factory paint and I pay for the best when I need it.

Good Luck!

Why do you say that metallic paint is difficult? It has been around for decades. In my city the MB dealers did not have their own body shops until fairly recently so they sent cars out to other shops belonging to other car companies. I had to have some paint work on my cars and I think it would be very difficult for the vast majority of people to see the difference between the aftermarket work and the factory paint.

Sure it has been around for decades but Metallic paint is difficult to spray. If an amateur shoots the paint incorrectly the respray would be easy to spot.
You have to have the metallic flakes in the paint to lay correctly.
I bought my wife a car and during the per-purchase inspection we found the right rear door was re-sprayed. This was a brand new 2013 Subaru Outback. One look down the side of the car and we spotted it. Silver is the hardest to match and repair of all colors.

Aftermarket paint does not have the longevity like factory paint. It may look the same but it will lack in quality. It will fade and not hold up as well. Only time proves to out.

I always choose solid colors in case of repair because it is easier to match the colors.

Metallic paint isn't that bad to paint(but newbie's can screw it up), but Metal Flake is the one that is hard to spray to match. Most people think they are the same.

I guess you have a keener eye than I do. I remember being told about the metallic flakes. The paint shop wanted to spray my drivers door in addition to the rear door that needed the repair in order have everything blend in. I said no thanks -just the rear. IMHO the paint was sprayed very well except for one tiny particle on the clear coat.

Actually my wife (and her X) in a previous life owned a body shop. I send her out to inspect my vehicles (even new) and it's unbelievable what she finds. Like the new car we were buying her she spotted the bumper and door repainted on a 2013 suburau direct of the truck ..

I'm a little too **** and any imperfection is kinda like scratching your nails on a blackboard to me (according to my wife).

Hey, why would you need to accept a transport damaged and repaired car when you pay for a car that is of the factory quality?

Nothing **** in raising a hell about it. I would not accept a new car with repaired transport damage unless they gave me a GOOD discount against it.

We didn't accept it. We bought another. The dealer acted like they knew nothing about it. " quote: They had no idea that the car was damaged in any way" . It was shipped from the factory direct to the dealer ship.

I completely understand... I still fuss over certain details which drives my wife crazy. As I get older though, I'm learning to let some things go.

Probably banged up on the boat or at the dock, fixed in Florida by the cheapest bidder, and sent to the unsuspecting dealer, or as a "repaint" at a huge discount.

That is correct, it adds another level of difficulty and the metalic does have to lay just right or it will refelct light in a different way making it look darker or lighter than the factory color. Disagree on the longevity tho of aftermarket paints. I've seen them last longer and look better than the factory paint on same car over many years.

I guess it comes down to who sprays the car and the quality of paint they use.
