Interior Noise in 2010 # 350 Sed
2010 E 350 has a whirring noise (like a motor) coming from the front ceiling light console. It is getting louder. It evens runs on awhile after car is switched off. Any thoughts?

Sounds like it could be that little fan that runs to dry the AC evaporator so it doesn't stink. Runs after shutoff to dry the thing out. Easily sounds like it comes from the roof/dash.
Step outside while it's running and put your ear next to the passenger side vent intake at the bottom of the windshield.

Thanks for the reply. I am familiar with the dryer noise. This one definitely comes from the dome console. I have put my ear right up to it. It is loud enough to get your attention.

I had the light whining noise too. It's the stereo. Turn off the stereo and it drops off. I'm thinking there's a small cooling fan in there similar to a laptop. I'm sure the screen and Harmon Kardon head unit gets hot without it.

Mine at times will make a quiet hissing noise when I shut down the car, and the noise goes away when I open the door.
