Window auto up question
So this may be super stupid sounding, but does the driver window auto up when you pull the switch up and then let go? I feel like it did but when trying to roll my window up this week it stops as soon as I let go of the switch. But every other window will keep going if I let go.... It also backs down a half inch or so when it finally closes so I have to roll it up a bit more again. Is this normal? It's been too cool out for a while for me to have my windows down so I could just be mis remembering lol
Thanks

I have a very similar issues on my 2010 E350. It doesn't happen all the time though, but when it happens, it keeps on happening until the window ends up all the way down. after a few seconds rest it will go up, it really stinks when it is cold out!
I saw something similar in the TSB/bullitins list here:
https://mbworld.org/forums/e-class-w...212-sedan.html but wasn't sure if it is what I am seeing. Anyone else seeing this?

For me it goes up an inch, and then down 3 - 4 inches, even if I keep holding the switch up. From the bulletins thread:
LI67.30-P-050613 - 212 up to VIN A519818 front door windows intermittently reverse direction when closing cause excessive resistance dealer will replace and align window under warranty.
It looks like this is the culprit, I was just hoping that it wasn't so that they wouldn't have to replace the whole window. Not sure why I feel that way, it's not like it would cost me anything, it just seems odd to change the window for what appears to be an alignment issue.

Have had similar situations with several cars with auto up/down windows. Main problem is that if you hold too long, it goes to manual so window stops when you release button. However, determining length of time to hold the button is difficult.
As for going down after it closes, that is a defect.

-Get in the car and sit on a wet seat from the rain.. Swear at my wife who went shopping last night but isn't even in the car with me, and then edit myself as my 4 year old son is in the back seat.
-Start the car put it in reverse and pull the window tab up all the way and release - auto up - window goes up 1 inch down 4.
-Look inquisitively at the window as I start to drive off and assume that the tab slipped out of my fingers or something so auto up again - up 1" down 3".
-Wipe the newly accumulated water from my eyebrow before it runs into my eye, swear again edit again and try the light pull up on the tab - non-auto up -up up 1" down 4".
-Pull the auto-up and hold - up 1" down 3" even while holding the switch.
-Contemplate punching the window controls, realize that I actually like my car and contain the urge - Swear and push the auto down - window goes down.
-Wipe the wet hair out of my eyes, narrowly miss the tree that seems to have walked right in front of my car, and swear again. Hear this tiny voice from behind say - "Daddy, what does FU%#@n cheap-*** piece of Sh^* mean" and quickly pull the auto-up - nothing.
-wait about 10 seconds as the rainwater starts to puddle in my lap then try the non-auto up again - window finally goes all the way up.
I'd say not-an all together inaccurate description of how things went once or twice.

"Those are Mommy and Daddy words. You don't say them."
I had a similar thing happen when my daughter was 4. We arrived early for a doctor's appointment, so I let her sit in the front passenger seat to eat her snack. When she was done, she wanted to pretend to drive (still in the front passenger seat). Ok. She began waiving her arms and screaming "WTF! WTF!" only not in acronyms.
Another time we drove fast over a rough area of road. From the back I hear "Jeesusss Christ!"

Kinda I am digressing so please excuse me but since we are talking about kids pranks this is what happened a few years ago ... Funny story
I was walking down in the varsity yard and a few small kids got approached me and asked what was inside the plastic bag .I said there were Playboys , Penthouse and they all begun to giggle
Honestly, there were books inside but they knew what Playboy was
Back to the main topic, owners manual states something about learning mode for power windows , I am sure I read it and just because mine works fine that's why I didn't tackle reading all the procedure for it again

I do find it interesting that so few people have seen/are affected by this. Is it personal? Maybe I should go out there and say some kind words to my good friend.

1. Roll the window up (all the way), continue hold the button for about 10 to 15 second.
2. Roll the window down (all the way), continue hold the button for about 10 to 15 second. This will reset the position of the window motor position, the next time, just hit the button up or down, it will roll up or down all the way.
It's true for any windows that's out of sync. Good luck .

Try this prodedure :
1. Roll the window up (all the way), continue hold the button for about 10 to 15 second.
2. Roll the window down (all the way), continue hold the button for about 10 to 15 second. This will reset the position of the window motor position, the next time, just hit the button up or down, it will roll up or down all the way.

There is a simplet adjustment process described in the owners manual. It resets the calibration. I would try that first. The bulletin you reference replaces the windows with a thinner window. I had this issue and the procedure to reset the window motor's calibration fixed it for me.

Calling my dealer back and about to try to take the car in today and see what they can do. Talked to them on the phone yesterday and they said the hold-the-button to reset should fix it, however i couldnt get it to. Checked my VIN against the service notice which says 'up to VIN A519818' and mine is A304886, so i should be covered
