I recently bought a 2010 e350 and took it to the dealer for an oil change and checkup. I asked the service manager about the command update for the 2010 year that should have proper bluetooth audio and minor updates, he said there is no such thing, I explained to him that people have done this and it is possible , and he kept denying it saying ONLY 2011's(4.5 or something) .. So if I could get some type of service number/order if any of you have done this i can show him..politely lol.. if not i may try calling local dealers… also car is under factory warranty.

TSB's from prior postings: LI82.70-P-051455; LI82.70-P-054266 and LI82.85-P-051046. Updateusing software# 0009026706-001.

I gave them all to my service writer when I had mine done on my 2010 last month. Still not seeing much that has changed though.
The Repair Order shows reference to bulletin LI82.70-P-051455.
NOTE: You have to be having a problem with your system for the update to be done as warranty work. I had problems with called person having difficulty understanding me, no reception in some areas when phone itself showed 4-5 bars and voice commands not always understood. BTW, need to look in COMAND manual and have system familiarize with your voice if you haven't already.
They also found a campaign, 2012070002, for a harness adaption that supposedly relates to phone.

 

Thanks.. I spoke with another dealer and they are refusing to even lookup the software number for the update, they state its not possible.
It's frustrating that some dealers have gotten it done without an issue and some deny it.

 

if you don't want deal with them again, just go to another dealer. if not, go back and tell them what el cid said. if they are still giving you hard time, talk to both the service dept manager and your salesperson. tell them you'll never give them your business again due to the lack of service and knowledge by the service adviser.

Yes, I have posted several times about this on my 2009 build MY2010. BT audio is great.

Why don't you do a good search effort in this forum on the topic?

I could write a long page about this but have done it too many times so I refuse. Do a search and yoy will find all info you need.

 

I tried search a few weeks ago, but could not find posts re: COMAND update or software updates.
I know someone (maybe you) posted some things that should happen, BT streaming, A/C info on display, ability to operate Fog and DRL's at same time, etc.
Can you cite the posts? Thanks.

Alright thanks. I just think whatever I tell the dealer they will still refuse to update it.

 

have you tried to activate BT streaming by going through the engineering menu? Thats what I did, I then had the dealer update the software to improve the overall performance

Well yesterday while having it in for a oil change I talked to the tech and he put in my work order that my bluetooth was acting up , that way he could try updating the software. I will find out later today if it worked.

 

So I finally got the update ! It now shows Bluetooth audio under audio , also shows audio text on my Samsung gs3 but not on a iPhone 4s i guess it all depend on the device you use. I haven't noticed any other differences but am happy I now have the newest software !

 

What do you mean by audio text? did you have to turn something on from the internal menu (or whatever it is called) or did they do it for you? I just got my 2010 back from the dealer and they did a command update. I would expect similar capabilities - in fact I have an android pandora app to test for someone that he claims pushes title and artist to the display.

 

I have a 2010 with updated comand. Also an iPhone 4. It pushes artist and title for pandora, rhapsody, and spotify. It did not at first, but following the advice of a fellow poster I un-paired and re-paired, and the metadata was pushed thereafter. Cool stuff.

 

At first my iPhone didn't show text either, didn't try pandora , but my gs3 worked great. the command supports the text its just the device you use that will allow it or not !

 

You also have a new volume control. When using your Bluetooth streaming on the bottom left you can go to the tab and change Volume to Boost. Now you will really enjoy it!

You also now can pre-view your targets in NAVI. When driving and, for example, looking for a stopover gas station you can pick the option stop point from the list and before actually making it as a stopover target address you can selec the MAP tab at the bottom left and it will show you it on the map on a scale that you can actually see how far from your route it is.

This is very handy when traveling on highway and needs to stop for gas. When it shows the selection on the map for the stopover point the map scale does not allow you to see how the point really is located. The MAP-tab function is a big help for this.

Everyone does not need this function but for people who drive long distances, like myself, and don't want to drive too far from the route for a fill-up it is one of the best features of the whole NAVI system.

And the MAP function works for all addresses, not just for gas stations or other stopover options. You can pre-viev your target even when giving the main target address too.

If the dealer simply refuses to update, then you are out of luck. Until you go and request the dealer update your software due to issue X, you seem to be enjoying worrying yourself about what the dealer will not do. Too much drama!
