2012, 2013 E350 Engine Droning Noise, Uphill
For folks driving E-Classes with the new Direct Injection Engine (2012+) -- try going uphill, especially after a cold start, do you notice the engine droning to be louder than normal?
Recently moved to a new apt bottom of the hill. Started noticing this while going to work every morning.

Trans is in too high of a gear. What happens if you drive the same route in sport mode?

Unclear, will try shortly. I usually drive in "E-Mode" which starts the car in 2nd gear. Going up a steep hill (30% Grade, 16 Degrees) totally puts the engine to work.... :|

An engine pulling a car uphill will "drone" more due to the additional load. This occurs with virtually any engine. Sounds normal to me.
