Just picked up my new 2013 E350 luxury, will spend many days reading the book!

I have very much enjoyed my 2010 E350 Luxury version.
Spending time with the manuals is the way to go. I made a lot of notes both in the manuals and on separate sheets of paper re: how everything works and simplified instructions.
Recommend you look at the thread on service, TSB's, etc. here. Hopefully none will apply, but good information.
You have an option to purchase pre-paid maintenance plan if you do it before the first service is due.

People rarely pick the Lux option as the Sport has larger wheels and whatever at no additional charge but I'm with you on this one.
I beleive the E class is a "luxury" car.
When I buy my SL some day I'll go for all the sporty upgrades. Meanwhile I'll enjoy my E class in the lap of luxury, thank you very much.

I traded in my old Audi A6 for the Benz and absolutely love the car so far. Looks great, interior is black/walnut with the leather+wood wheel. 4Matic also seems as good as the Quattro. Rear camera is sweet - not a biggie I know but my first auto with one.
My other car is a 300ZX which is lowered, has big wheels and very stiffly sprung. I therefore passed on a similarly priced sports E350 with the AMG wheels. The Benz is my family car and everyday commuter, hence the luxury choice, which also appears to be rare for some odd reason with dealers.
Successfully ran thru the car wash this am without breaking the standing star on hood, something I was a bit concerned about.

I drove a few BMWs and an M37 and was set to buy a 535xdrive before my wife convinced me to try a Mercedes. First I drove a 4matic sport and thought hey this is better then the BMW not quite as attached to the road but close enough and much smoother. Then I tried the lux rwd with multicontour seats p2 and a bunch of other stuff and I was sold. smoothest car of the lot by far!
Sports are great, but I'll take my lux and it's 17" wheels over one any day.

I bought the wheel package - same price $800. It covers cosmetic stuff and tires too (refinishing a wheel costs around $150 per). I plan to use it every spring for the 5 years! I already scuffed one of my wheels! Old beat up roads here in NE.

I tried both the Lux and the Sports when I was shopping. Although I had to order the Lux, it was that or nothing for me. Got same deal as if I bought one on lot.
It was hard to find a Lux even for testing. Dealer finally had to borrow one from a customer.
The Lux has the 17" wheels which have larger sidewalls on the tires and therefore ride better. It also has the comfort suspension and a few other trim differences. Stands taller as well which helps in clearing sidewalks, curbs, parking bumpers, etc.
All persoanl preference, but glad MB offers the choice.
