accessory code 887

just got a 2010 E 350 and it lists code 887 as a lockable safe box. Dealer can't explain what or where this is. Would appreciate help and location etc

Code 887 = datacard normally lists “Separate trunk lid locking” simply means glove box, driver's door, and trunk can be locked & unlocked using mechanical key.

accessory code 887

Thanks for that nfo, but I do not think they would classify those items as "lockable safe box" as the code desription indicates. That key that you refer to is the one used when you give the valet your main key.

Look up accessories available for your vehicle. There is or was a lockable drawer that attached underneath the rear window shelf in the trunk.

lockable safe box

I looked at the trunk tray but that is not the item as far as I can see. This is supposed to be under the seat- possibly in place of the bin that is there now. Again the description says lockable safe box accessory code 887

under my vin it is listed as Lockable safe box which is different from your listing for the same code. I had read somewhere????? of others having this as well and removing it because the key was lost?????

I don't think MB uses the same code for two different functions but I am aware of different texts / translations under the same code.

I'm quite sure what konigstiger posted is what the code means. There is no separate safety box. It probably means lockable clove box or trunk or both.

lockable safe box

I have seen several different cars with the 887 code listed exactly as mine is. Also I saw some postings that they were chatting about the box and lost keys-- but I can't remember where. However I do thank you for your comments

There is a dealer in Texas that listed it as an included option , and I will try to call him.

In the meantime I would definitely appreciate any other comments

I believe it refers to the locking glove box. They also refer to a "tool kit," which is actually just the standard tire changing stuff-jack, lug wrench.

My vehicle had the same code I found out there was a locking box under the passenger seat. There are full size and half size trays. It depends on your vehicle. Here’s the forum that talks about it. https://www.benzworld.org/threads/mo...-seat.1699935/
