The heck...my car stopped accelerating on the freeway
So I'm on the way into the office. I'm on the on-ramp, and need to hit the gas to accelerate. I punch it actually to get up to speed fast, and the car doesn't respond.
I think, weird...look at my dash, and I have a notification I think was about the owner's manual. Again, I think...weird. I push the accelerator in again, finally noticing, the car is just cruising, power still on, but no acceleration. I pull over, and find the engine is actually still on (as far as I can tell). I turn the car off, power it back on, and everything is fine.
What just happened??

Not sure - but for safety reasons I would have the dealer check it out ASAP.
FWIW, I had a similar experience in my old 2010 E350 - except it wasn't fixed with an engine restart. I had it towed to the dealer and they had to replace the engine control unit (ECU). Took a week because they had to order the part from Germany.

Thanks for the response.

MBWorld Fanatic!
Sounds like it went into limp home mode and the restart cleared the malfunction. The error code will be stored so go have it checked out.

I've experienced the same thing. When I stomp on it, only when the cruise control is engaged though, it does exactly that and gives a dash warning. Keying off and on the car resets it but no malfunctions registered. Doesn't happen every time but has a few times. I just disengage the cruise if I plan on hammering on the accelerator.
