HOT BLUETOOTH!
2011 E550, P2, etc.
I just bought a new Samsung Galaxy S III. Hooked it up with my car OK. No sweat.
Today, the phone was sitting on the kitchen counter, 40 feet, two doors, and an external wall away from the garage. Drove the car into the garage and the phone hooked up!
I thought Bluetooth, as configured for cars and phones, was a short range facility. Obviously not --- at least for this phone and car.
Causes one to think about what else can hook up with the car . . .

i'm with my phone 24/7. yes, even taking a bath/shower 
. so kudos to you not relying on it as much as most people nowadays 
. as for the range, i kind of remember one time i left something behind and my phone was in my pocket. wife was inside the car so didn't stop the engine. ran back and picked up the stuff. wanted ask my wife something and tried to call but the bt was still connected. not sure how many feet but it was a good distance.

Mine is Nokia N8 and the phone has been frozen to death a few times because of other phone's bluetooth connection requests lol . So, I turned off my phone visibility and no problem since , only my devices can connect my phone .
Prior to update, my phone wasn't connecting to MB Bluetooth but that happened rarely , my solution was turn on and off the phone bluetooth
I updated phone software and the phone is more reliable now but have not turned on bluetooth visibility yet
