Rear Tail light Defect?

I was following my wife home tonight who was trying out the new E350. I noticed when looking at the rear lights that they weren't lit up symetrically. To better explain, the pattern on the left was different from the one on the right, there seemed to be an extra section lit up on the right side near the license plate. I guess it's not rocket science that one side probably is defective or missing lighting. I'm going to take it in, as it's a lease, but just wondering if anyone experienced anything similar, or had a solution? Car is brand new.

The rear fog light is on. The rear fog light is only on the left side. Nothing defective.

With the headlight switch. You may have to look this one up in the book. I have an early 2010, Oct 2009 production with a different switch. When the fog light is on a symbol lights up.

It might not be your rear foglight. I had mine in for replacement of the rear tailight assembly. 1/3rd of my leds were out on the drivers side tailight. Didn't know about it until a friend of mine was behind me and told me.

There should be a fog light button next to the light switch. If you have both front and rear fog lights you should have a separate button for each. If you have only rear fog light then there is only one button.

No, Nothing Hype. I actually didn't believe my buddy when he told me, but after he second person mentioned it I had to check it out. Sure enough, bunch of leds were out and the car, at the time, was only about a year old. Weird. Dealer replaced the whole assembly, obviously under warranty. Edit: Dealer replaced the assembly of the rear light section that is mounted on the trunk lid, that section was the defective one.

The OP is saying that the lighting pattern is different, not that the light pattern is the same and one side is brighter. With the fog light on, I believe the same amount of LEDS are used, they just get brighter,, so the pattern would be the same though. I'm still thinking a bad section of LEDS is the case here, just imo.

It just dawned one me this is why I didn't post earlier . So, I replaced my taillights and I remember seeing a warning message about lights on the dash because of bad connection .So, we checked and one of plugs were loose .
Well, I mean your car should have told you that there was something wrong with LEDs

Yeah, it was weird. All of the leds were on, it was just that(approimately 1/3rd)some of them were just real dim compared to the rest. They weren't completely out, so maybe that is why I didn't get a message. And my rear fogs were definitely off.

Glad we all could help. Its nice to have this forum and hear people's different opinions and then narrow it down to the correct problem. Good luck, hope the dealer treats you good...
