What is the illuminated grill emblem? Sounds interesting already...
|
the illuminated grill is bonkers! love it!
looks like everyone gets LED lamps now? nice! looks like a lot of nice noobs too........ doing away with Nightview? and maybe adding split screen like in the S? I'll bet the hockey stick DRL's will return in the future.......lets wait and see///// hope they don't jack up their side mirrors like mine:) |
Interesting, reading through it....
I like that you can FINALLY a la carte Options on the car, so now we'll see some more diversity and uniqueness between models. Will make looking for what different models have on them more enticing and interesting. Also looks like the Options are more or less the same as on the pre-facelift? Nothing really new I can find, just different ways to equip them obviously. Looks like they even discontinued the Night Vision, which I guess isn't surprising (too over-engineereed or maybe useless for the "I don't care just give me the Lease to the most basic model" trained American market). So no more E350 Bluetec? Interesting that they're bringing in the 250 instead, but I guess Diesels sell in such small numbers and ultimately appeal to those so gas conscious that the "350" number or extra power is meaningless. Curious to see that Covelline Blue paint. Looks to be purple-ish to me. Hot blues are becoming "in" again on cars. What is "Static LED headlights"? I do know that on the NON LED-Package cars, the headlights will regress into cheap reflectors akin to 80's American cars (even while current cheap American cars are upgrading to projectors for their halogens). It's shameful that after all this time, M-B and BMW and maybe other premium manufacturers are regressing to hideous reflectors for their halogens. Looks terrible not only at surface, but especially at nighttime (like the facelift C-Classes headlights at night). IMO the pre-facelfit instrument cluster looks so much nicer and more interesting than the "CLS" cluster which is becoming more ubiquitous across the M-B range (as are seemingly most of the "CLS" interior cues), though it does have too much a hard-plastic-y look. Damn, the updated Attention Assist sounds enticing. The first one is cool in theory, but worked terribly inaccurately via my many experiences with it. Looks like M-B's will finally get those "guidelines" that so many have been clamoring for. I have them now and will say they are a great addition, but still kinda pointless due to the main benefit of the camera being the CAMERA itself, though they're better than nothing. And wow IMO that illuminated Star is gaudy. I can't believe they did some whole uber emotional video spot highlighting something so superfluous and insubstantial. |
Awesome, thanks! Can't wait for the E250 BTC.

I dont care if we need it or not.. I want the illuminated grill.. Though they prob won't make it for pre-2014 :(
|
Illuminated Star, Hmmm, seems kinda campy to me.
|
Can someone please explain why the cannot offer dynamic seats for passengers as they do in other markets?
|
What I really like:
Ability to get active ventilated seats with MBTex Keyless Go Package would have fit me just right E250/350 I will have to test drive to decide. Having the diesel 4 matic would be nice for the 1% of the time I would need it. The 2.1 I diesel is very well selling in europe so I am interested to see how it compares to my 350... |

M-B is really exploiting their Star grille to the nth degree these days, seems desperate to me. This just takes it to a new level (overkill). Maybe they should have done it on the hood Star instead at least.... maybe that could rejuvenate that setup and relight the fire of the Luxury Grille. :D |
Interesting stuff. Don't know if I like that a hood ornament is now not possible with sport trim - I like the sport trim for the steering wheel and more normal looking ride height ("luxury" looks like it sits too high to me), but I like to have a hood ornament. I am also curious about the blue color - I loved "quartz blue" and was sad to see it go, it seemed like a new version of my fintail's color. I think I read somewhere that the cruise is being moved off the stalk?

Damn that front is HIDEOUS!
The pre-facelift got criticized enough for having "bland" taillights. I agree that it's the weakest link of the design though I liked mine when I smoked one or the other portions of it (my 2010 had smoked red portions and my 2011 smoked white strips), however I can't believe they REALLY made the taillights no arguments bland as hell this time around. No character to them. I prefer the white strip going across the middle at least. |
Thanks for the pics, I never will like front end of these sport versions aka Avantgarde :nix:
Bumper cover from that angle also looks weird and looks like it was crafted by someone who likes riced out cars  |

No 3 spoke steering wheel with the BLUETEC? Deal breaker.
|
I love that new front end. Thank god where i live we do not have to run licence plates in the front.
|
wonder if you take a rock to the grill if it will still light lol. i dont know if its worth it or something i would want. you really will stand out on the road but that might be too much of a stand out. i guess i would have to see it in person.
|
not that bad IMO, the front end is very sculpted and looks ready to snack on lesser cars:)

Anyone who gets the new E will have to take the risk of front license plate tickets. Considering the plate frame takes up exactly the space of the painted center portion in between the enlarged air dams, it makes it appear as if it really modifies the design of the front. I also wonder why the Sport Package still gets the same AMG wheels which were out on the W204 C-Class before the W212 even launched. They're nice wheels but considering how extensive and "corrective" M-B seems to see this facelift as being, adding new wheels would have made it even easier to trick people into thinking it's an all new model which M-B seem so oddly intent on doing.

I know that USA license are not as wide as the euro but a little taller. Don't see how the you interpret that it "takes exactly the space...between the air dams". Not that I like the look at this point but it may be a trend. (Lexus??) The radiator and other real air ducts is highly likely to be above that anyway. |
Actually that picture you posted shows the plate actually being LARGER than the painted portion running across. The plate therefore cuts into the air dam space, which truly throws the design intentions off. From what I know, U.S and Euro plates are the same width from bottom to top?
|
Not a matter of opinion. But the facts for license plates:
Euro format 520mm x 110mm tall Universal format (USA, Japan, Korea, etc.) 305mm x 155mm tall Tall= vertical dimension (in case you need to imagine it) Converted - Euro format 25.47 x 4.33 inches (110 square inches) Universal format 12 x 6.1 inches (73.2 square inches) Euro format is 50% BIGGER. |

Friend of mine has a Prius, not at all in the same class as a W212. What some extreme (?) prius owners practice is grill blocking. Do a search on google for some images. Absolutely crazy to me, that one would actually risk overheating to boost mpg beyond what the Prius already does. Prius owners probably would want to take off their license plate too if they thought they could get some more mpg. :D |
I am having a little trouble with the abbreviations. Are we getting a diesel 4matic wagon option?
|
I know it's been a while but is this pdf the final order guide for both the sedan and the wagon? I have my build sheet that I can go back to, but was just curious. I have a lot of options added to my vehicle active ventilated seats are not one of htem despite my sedan having the P01 package?
