How do you copy MP3 songs to the Music Register?

My 2012 E350 Command manual says I can copy an audio MP3disc to the Music Register so I put all my MP3 songs on a DVD. However when I load the disc, REC (Record) does not appear like it does if I put a music CD in. Anyone know how I can create a DVD of my MP3 files that will allow me to import them to the Music Register like it says in the manual?

If you're in the US, that feature is disabled, even though, as you note, the manual says it can be done.

No doubt something to do with the litigious nature of the RIAA.

Try as I did the only way I could do it was the most difficult and time consuming...placing CDs into the slot and "burning" songs.Far more difficult than with my BMW's *standard* sound system.

I thought it was just me...I spent hurs burning every type of DVD with all sorts of different formats...thought the unit was broken....alas, the "REC" icon shows only when a music disc is inserted. On the upside, I slapped a few of the dvd's into the changer and can now drive 4300 miles and never hear the same song... :P
my 2011 R accepted dvd's with the older system, this one only lets me burn audio files from cd. weird.

Thanks for the replies. I found that the DVD I created with my MP3 songs plays fine, also I copied all the songs to a 4GB SD card and that plays also. Doesn’t make sense that Mercedes will let you load a music CD to the register but not an MP3 song.

MB is probably trying to be a "Good Citizen" by not allowing already copied music to be copied in the car's hard drive. At least they can say that the music that was copied came from a CD in original format so at least someone paid for it.

I cannot see any other reason and I would not be surprised if this functions differently in some other market area.
