2014 E250 Bluetec 4matic
130 today in my new e250. Legally,on the autobahn.

Highest was 155 in my old 1998 e430, german spec, a 1986 bmw 3er, and a 190e 2.3 16v...

All limited by electronics, not by my foot...

What is especially nice with the E250 is that you can pretty much cruise at 130mph all day long. The torque just keeps it dialed in at speed.

E550 4Matic is limited to 120mph.
I found that out when I was embarrassed by a little old Infiniti G35.

Popped my welders cherry for 150 the other day. Had quite a bit to go but I would have hit the governor anyway so backed off. Crossfire M113 E50 with a 6-speed manual.

Beats my 242 km/h there in a rented BMW 530d Wagon. I've driven a few hours at 200 but I find any faster is hard work mentally, and the 242 was for less than a minute.

It is absolutely stunning how incredibly fast even the basic models are. Let's take the E 200 Diesel (136 PS / 132 hp). This car will do 130mph as well!

I had an E 250 T Diesel (Station Wagon) and this car did 146 mph as well!

Well, that is only true for the US-Market. In Germany, the 550 is limited to 159 mph.

I tend to agree. I have to do a lot of Autobahn driving with my E 550. Most of the time I like to cruise at approximately 120-140mph as everything beyond that speed is very, very hard work for me.

I picked up my new E550 at the factory last week and after a week of driving around southern Germany and eastern France am at FRA headed home. I'll be posting a thread on this fun adventure later, but wanted to chime in on this question. First off, I have been on several Porsche European driving trips over the years have seen over 270kph (about 168mph) on the speedo at times when you really didn't want to be glancing down at the dash. I am a regular at our club's driving education events and hit about 150mph on the front straight of the Texas World Speedway when a turn is a couple of hundred yards away.

Now on to the E550. This week my wife and I were regularly cruising at 120mph+ for fairly long stretches. What struck us both was how stable, safe-feeling and quiet the car was at speed. It was truly a joy to drive. That said, I can faithfully report that the car (with standard E550 wheels and tires) is limited to 215kph (about 133mph). Several times I had it floored for a while and that's as high as it went. While not 911 fast, that ain't bad for a car as comfortable as this.

This is only true for the US-Version of the E 550. The European-Version is limited to 159mph. Feel free to check out my video from 0-159mph.

Meanwhile a friend of mine has delimited his E 550. However, the needle stops at 260km/h and also the digital readout does not display more than 260. The rpm-gauge on the other hand is still strongly climbing at this stage as does the gps-speed. So far we have hit more than 185mph - although he has not the 4matic version of the E 550 but the rear wheel drive version. I suspect, that the 4matic will be a bit slower (~5mph).

My guess is that the limit is more a function of tire rating (e.g. H rated tires are "good" to 210kph) than US vs. Euro model. I'd wager that the US AMGs models have W or Y rated tires and are not limited until higher speeds. That said, maybe the lawyer intensive US is the only place MB cares about this. My US Porsches have higher rated tires and are not speed limited.
