E500 used question
I'm looking at a 2011 e550 with 60k miles. Any opinions on how long the turbos will last. Car is clean and price seem to be OK. I'm more worried about the car lasting for the 5 years that I would have for car payments. Any insight into this or any comments about the car in general would be greatly appreciated!

did you look under the hood when you went to drive and/or look at it? Did it lok pretty good?
I did Nuru. It's a CPO - clean in and out. They will also sell me the Mercedes 135K extended warantee. I'm torn between the LOADED 550 4matic (60K miles) and a 2012 350 4matic with 24000 mi (with P1, sport and some other incidentials). priced pretty close to one another.
Great, did you look up what the fair market value estimates are for both cars on kbb.com? If not try that out and make sure you capture all the options when you try it out.
The fact that they will give you a CPO on it indicates that you are probably the second owner, as if you were the third, MBUSA won't let them give you an extended CPO warranty.

Thanks. I used kbb and nada along with country-wide searches. I was just somewhat concerned with a car that has 60k miles. However, judging by in-service date, they are strictly Highway miles.

Even wit highway miles that is a lot of miles. Will you be driving the car everyday or will it be the "weekend car"? I do think I would take a chance on a CPO 60k,, loaded car for a weekend car.

Highway miles are only 1/3 of city miles. If indeed the car has been used on "highway only" meaning 85% or more on highway the 60000 miles becomes actual 20000 miles for the engine. The transmission does see the full mileage though but on highway this is easy too.
For the mileage being only 1/3 of the actual for the engine while on the highway I have eperience this with my previous ride. It had an oil life indicator and every time I changed the oil at 3000 miles it said 70% - 75% oil life left.
My driving was (and still is) on the highways and I changed the oil at every 3000 miles as I really thought to keep the car until I found out of some serious engine issues not related to normal wear and tear.
