Does side mirrors tilt down when car is in reverse?

Dear Arrie: I appreciated your reply and I have jst one point to make: just look to one of my previous threads. You will see that I had a 2005 Acura RL with both outside mirrors tilting pending the driver choice. Sometimes we do park on the left side of the street or other place like a parking lot in which your only spot has a lanscaped area on the left and the space is narrow and you don't want to damage your car rims against stones, etc.
My best regards.

Dear sagres1,
If the reverse tilting mirror is so darn important for you on the driver's side why don't you go ahead and trade your brand new MB for a new Acura? It would make you happy and love the car you drive...
I have not seen one positive comment from you about the 2014 E350 you have. Why did you buy it?

And this is why I've left continuous feedback to MBUSA stating I want fold-in and both mirrors to lower when reversing ^_^ Seriously, if the other competitors have this why not the E's...

I need to buy something to replace my 2011 e350 BT at end of lease. I'm looking around....lots of excellent choices and not sure I would say mercedes is best in all areas...in fact, in many, it's last. The lease deal is so good though, that I might stay....MB is going to lose a bundle on every e350 they lease for 27 mos...they are buying sales at this point.
So..if you don't like someone commenting about something missing from Mercedes, then you aren't being realistic about the car...it's good, but it's got some areas which lag it's competitors.

Dear ghstudio:
Your comment reflects exactly how I feel about the 2014 E350. I never said that I don't like the car, in fact I am (so far) very happy with the car. What I intended to express was that it should have some features that other cars of the same level has already FOR YEARS...and at cheaper cost: Acura RL since 2005 is a good example. I may add that indeed this car was an excellent car that I had for more than 8 years without any problem. I hope that this MB is up to the challenge...
Finally, I may add that was born and raised in Western Europe and I know and drove more MB cars than some people that writes in this Forum.
My best regards.

I'm probably being really stupid but I'm struggling to get the passenger mirror to dip when I put it in reverse.
It's an auto E220 CDI without memory seats
The steps I've completed are:
1. Turn on ignition
2. Select passenger mirror on arm rest
3. Put in reverse
4. Dip mirror to desired position
5. Return to P or D (and mirror should tilt back up)
It doesn't! Any ideas? Thanks in advance

Step 4 not required?

I think you may have "set" the mirror in the fully down postion and that is why it does not come back up. Of course, if you have set mirrors with Memory, they should return to your pre-sets anyway.
You might try to re-set your mirror memory and then put car in reverse and see what happens. Good Luck.

Dear W2122014:
Your steps are OK till the step 5.
BEFORE you return the gear to Forward on your step 5, you have to press MEMORY; then you return the gear Forward.
You should be outside with the engine running. The mirror will return to its normal position after you move the car forward for about 15 to 20 feet or so.
Please let me know if you need any further clarification about this subject, I will be happy to help you.

Dear 2122014:
In complement of what I wrote in the previous message to you, I forgot to mention that, first, you have to press the right side mirror button. This is really the step 1.
I am presuming that your car has the same features of my car, the 2014 E350 Sports Sedan.
My best regards.

Just noticed that you do not have memory seats. Maybe it is not available unless car has memory?
On mine, if I leave the mirror selector switch on armrest set on passenger side, I never have to touch it again. Passenger mirror automatically tilts down when I put car in reverse and then automatically tilts back up when I put it in drive. Don't have to press anything.

Tried mine. If passenger side mirror button is engaged on armrest, place in Reverse and passenger mirror tilts down. Place in Drive and mirror returns to normal position after drive for a minute or two - about the time the auto locks engage.
As long as button is set for passenger side mirror, works every time. No need to press the button.

side view mirror tilt
Thanks for this forum. On my 2010 E class, the passenger side mirror was always tilting when I put the car in reverse. Personally, I don't like it. I'm used to the mirror where it is, and that's the view I expect. On my car, the only way to defeat the tilt was to put the mirror setting on the driver's side mirror.

It's in the operator's manual under section on mirrors. All you do is push button for adjusting right mirror and leave it there. Every time you put car in reverse, passenger side mirror tilts down.
If you leave switch in the center position or on driver's door side, mirror won't tilt. I leave mine in center just to save wear and tear on the motor in the mirror. When I need it, I activate it. Think this is why MB gives you a choice of tilt down or not.

Hi, everyone. I am a new member. I just bought a 2014 MB E350, and I came across a couple of problems with the car, as follows:
1 - The Operation Manual stinks, has more pages waisted about warnings how not to do this and not to do that than real information. A lot of rubbish. Further, when we reach the important point, tells us very little, it send us to the Digital Operations Manual (DOM). Of course, you have to go to the car, switch ignition on, waist a lot of battery charge reading the DOM, and on the end, you might not get an answer.
2 - This is the case of TILTING THE OUTSIDE MIRRORS WHEN WE PUT THE GEAR IN REVERSE. This is a very usefull feature when we try to park the car on the street and other places.
The DOM is mute as far as this in the chapter referent to the "External Mirrors". There is information, but not about tilting.
Well, I got the solution for all of the 2014 MB E350 owners.
It is as follows:
1 - Start the car.
2 - Engage gear in reverse.
3 - On the driver door, press the right mirror switch.
4 - Press the lower arrow of the mirrors control. The right mirror will tilt till the point that you are satisfied.
5 - Now, and lastely, PRESS MEMORY BOTTOM ONCE on the driver side door. Do NOT press bottoms 1, 2, or 3 on that Memory control.
6 - Et Voilá, the problem is solved. As soon as you roll the car forward, the mirror wil go back to its normal position... and tilts every time that you engage the reverse.
Too bad that does not work for the left side. MB thinks that nobody in the US parks the car on the left...My old 2005 Acura RL had that feature.

Good for you
Must be different on 2016's because on mine, I never engaged the memory button to set the return position. It automatically returned to where I had originally set my right side mirror.
