oem AMG body conversion kit!

Hey everyone!

im super interested in facelifting the 2011 w212 to the likes of the 2014 model.

and with that i found a website that sells a kit (little pricey for me, but exciting to see its available)

they are based in the uk, but they sell a complete facelift package (any early w212 [2009-2011] to current AMG model [AMG appearance or E63 AMG]) including the facelifted hood, grille, bumpers (front, rear and side skirts) LED headlights and tail lights including the SAM converter (aka no error codes) All parts are oem from mercedes! again the only down side is the price.

so if there is anyone here with deep pockets and willing to give this a go, please keep me in the loop!!

for the E63 AMG conversion kit:

That is no converter. Just a new sam unit and it still needs alot of programming. And the pice is CRAZY.

Whyy did it have to be such a hassle to update the taillights to the newer facelifted version. I really like the new lights..

Would the retrofitted taillight have Amber turn signals or would it use the brake lights as signal lamps like rest of the US spec cars...?

This company makes aftermarket faceift look tail lights here:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Clear-Red-Full-3D-LED-Tail-lights-for-Mercedes-Benz-E-Class-W212-Sedan-09-13-/151535225939?pt=AU_Car_Parts_Accessories&hash=item2348340c53&vxp=mtr
Supposedly plug and play for non facelift cars.

Something to keep in mind is to make sure the shape of the tail light on the facelift is 100% the same as the pre facelift. MB recently has been changing the tail light design ever so slightly that the facelift isn't a direct bolt on to non facelift cars, despite the shape of the light appearing to be the same to the naked eye.

I've heard the MY15 facelift for the CLS doesn't work unless you get a new rear bumper. The same can be said for the facelift R-Class from a few years back.

Im afraid for W212 rear lights don t look like oem design . It can be easy to see that they try to look like . Seeing the pic dont like it too much , im afraid in real they look worse .

Anyway from my experience in 1-2 years they will be good for garbage , unless they will start to fall the leds one by one .

Personally i woud search for a pair of oem used ones .

what about your opinion ?

Yes, I suggest to use OEM ones only. The ebay ones in the link are not to my taste.

Sorry to dig up this post, you all seem really knowledgeable, are pre-facelift sedan and coupe taillights interchangeable? There are "2014 style" taillights on ebay for pre-facelift years. They are listed for the sedan but I would like to use them on a coupe (maybe, surely the quality is crap compared to stock, but sorta neat regardless)

No. You need special lights for Coupe and cabrio W207 or C207!

good to keep things running..

I have MY2013, and really like the new tail lights. but this ebay deal is a little shady.

I'd go with used ones but I don't think they are a simple switch and plug, you may correct me.

Try this link below. It's a plug and play light set before the facelift. I have these on my car.

Dont forget one very important thing guys , when installing oem led taillights facelift on older years , you shoud consider replacing facelift rear bumper as well !!

2010 vs 2015 models have diferent shapes on the bottom line . Also other tricks must be done to not show erorr lights on board . The new leds have diferent power consumptions and computer will see it as a trouble !

as for me , i have them installed on car and running with erorrs .... because of lazy ...or busy haha

I sure would go with the Depo if I didnt do the facelift bumper wich I am and if they where made for W207 but they are not. But those where TOTALY over priced. Should be about half I Think. I for example pay less for OEMs.

Funny, they are using your pics in the Ebay listing. I'm not sure why these particular ones cost about double of other similar options on Ebay under $400. They probably all come from the same place in Taiwan or something.

I also don't know why people are so skeptical of Ebay, I buy TONS of stuff there all the time, never had a problem. Just keep your passwords strong and use the text confirmation security feature to login to Paypal or other banking.

Didn't know my car was being used as pics on ebay!

These set work perfectly without errors and are 99% plug and play. I had to shave a little piece of the outer light connector but doesn't affect functionality and still locks together.

I have automotive lighting experience for around 11 years . DEPO is still a Taiwan company dont forget about that , but still its best in aftermarket area compared to other aftermarket non oem brands .

Led chips are not Cree or OSRAM or Philips , lens dont have same UV protection as factory equipment has , and DEPO dont do the dustproof test , freezing test , high temp test , moisture test ....and other wich i didnt know

the rest of the story ...you can imagine , but for me OEM its OEM and dont compare to anything else

BTW depo headlamps i guess they have drive control boxes for leds ....wich fail ...wich you can t get spare parts

Cheers !

I've sold just about every light. Yes, depo is great because it's Taiwan. If it's china, then no, not good for lights. There's a huge difference between Taiwan and China made lights on these cars. If anyone needs any help with a light, let me know and I'll try to help you guys out.
