Newbie with CPO Warranty ?s
I'm picking up a CPO 2012 E550 in a few days. I was under the impression that the CPO warranty was an extra year and up to 100k, basically covering everything the original factory warranty covered. And - you can buy an extra year (120k miles) or 2 (135K miles) to extend the CPO warranty.
The finance guy at the dealership said the CPO warranty (extra year/to 100K) only covered powertrain. He said that the CPO warranty only provided "full" coverage of electronics, etc. up to 62K miles. Is that right?
He offered to sell the extended CPO "full" coverage for 1yr (up to 74000 miles) miles and 2yrs (up to 86000 miles).
I've read everything I can find on the web about CPO warranties-but never saw anything like this.
Anyone else heard of this?
Thanks.
Ralph

Extended warranty coverage
That link shows what is covered. if its not listed there, its not covered.
CPO warranty and extended warranty both pretty much cover the same thing. Neither is as comprehensive as the original 4yr/50k bumper to bumper warranty.

Yeah, thats what I was familiar with, but the finance guy was just telling me something different. Turns out he was clueless, and must have been thinking about one of his other manufacturer's warranty.

Can anyone tell us what the difference is between CPO warranty and extended warranty? I was under the impressions that they both provide the same coverage, except a CPO car gets a certified walk through.

If you're only talking about MB warraties, then the main difference is how they're obtained. An extended warranty must be purchased by the owner before the original new vehicle warranty expires. The CPO warranty is provided with CPO cars sold through a MB dealer. There's probably some differences in what's covered by each. See the following for info on types of warranties/what they cover.
