Command Telephone question

I have a 2013 E 350 with Command/Navigation. Is it possible, after pairing my iPhone 5 and loading my address book, to use voice commands to call people from my address book? For example if there is an address book entry for "John" can I use a voice command like "call John" to initiate the call?

Compared to the 2013 Prius this command system seems cumbersome with too many steps and not very intuitive.

if you still can't figure it out, just call Mbrace and ask to speak to a tech support person. they will walk you through it.

I read through that thread however when I say "call Kallen" it shows my address book and an alphabet bar above I have to search and find the name using the alphabet index, I can't seem to make it look up the name and call automatically.

I am not an Mbrace member, decided not to use it, can I still call and ask a question?

also, I just heard that Garmin will be powering the Navigation for MB starting next year, which is a good thing in my opinion, wonder if MB will make it available as a retrofit?

Yes it can be done.
On my Android phone after pairing the phone book automatically imports.

To make a call simply press the Tel button on the dashboard.
Then press the voice command button on the steering.
Then say "Call name"
Command will ask you for the name.
You then say the name "John Doe"
That's all.

You're welcome.
On mine it repeats back the name but in the order of Last name then First name.
But it works just fine.
Cheers

does anyone know if MB will likely offer a retrofit for previous years when they integrate Garmin into their Navigation starting next year?

They might if there is a sizeable market for the retrofit. This may also have a touch screen interface, s it may require changing out the HU too. $$$$

You don't need to press the "TEL" button first. You just press the voice button on the steering wheel regardless what is in your Comand screen and say "Call name". The car will ask for the name and you speak the name. After this the car will ask which number for the name you want to dial if there are more than one number listed under the name and you will tell the car which one. You can also say "John Doe mobile" and the car will directly call that one.

Has anyone here had a problem with the number of contacts that Command will accept? My phone is loaded automatically with a long list of clients, and so when I import from the iphone, it runs out of memory. Any ideas?

(I have tried to eliminate as many contacts as possible - which seems ridiculous)
