Delayed transmission shifts when starting warm
The car is a 2010 E550, 65k miles. If you restart the car when it is warm then for the first few miles it will hold onto gears longer than normal. My commute is through some 35mph back streets and I don't get over 45. When starting the car warm for the first four or so miles (seems to be longer when hotter) it will hold onto gears until around 2,400 rpm before shifting up. It's probably not getting out of 4th. Then after those first few miles it will magically shift up the gears to top, after which it behaves normally. When cold it behaves perfectly from the start.
I'm in Houston and the problem is more noticeable now that the hot weather is here. When the weather was cooler, 80 F, I never noticed the problem.
At all times the shifts are smooth, no jerking.
Anyone seen this before? Any ideas?
TIA
Peter
p.s. car has older style transmission pan (A2212701212), MB records showed they did the 40k service
