Door Locks

HI Guys....I have a small problem, 2011 E350 Sport P1, just got out of the car hit the lock button on the fob then remembered I left some mail in the car. I hit of open button and door would not open, tried it a few more times with no luck, Took the Metal key and opened the door, alarm went off, used the lock button on the fob to shut off alarm. tried it again, locked the door and was unable to use open feature on key fob. all other functions work, trunk and lock function.

Any ideas, is it possible fob battery needs replacement after 2 years? Appreciate any suggestions?

IIRC, the owners manual recommends replacing fob batteries every six months. I'd say at two years, the battery in your fob needs to be replaced. That may or may not solve your problem but it's an inexpensive first step.

Just changed the batteyr CR2025 no luck , tried my wife's key fob which worked OK, looks like a problem with the key fob. I'll visit MB on Monday, car still under warranty and should not be a problem to replace the key fob. Appreciate the quick reply

When your keyfob battery is weak therefore needs to be replaced, you should be able to see a warning message thru cluster gauges .One of my key fobs has been throwing that message for months but as of yet it still works fine .
I don't remember what the manual recommends over replacement period but 6 months is quite premature if you ask me lol

Took the car to MB yesterday, explained the problem to service rep...he tried the open button on the fob which didn't work, he then pressed the lock button about 10 times and hit the open button and it work. he said he reset the fob....WTF... I don't know but its now working again. So I'm a happy camper again. Thanks for the replies that's what this forum is all about...HELPING ONE ANOTHER
