'13 E550 sound-improvment?

Hello,

After five years driving a ’08 E 550 T with the wonderful M 273 engine, we decided to buy a ’13 E 550 M 278 this May. One of the best things of our M273 was its sound:

Of course I expected the M278 to sound just as good. Well, it does not:

Question:

Has anybody also complains about the sound? What is a proper solutions without voiding the warranty? Is it possible to fit the E63 exhaust (without the tail pipes) on the E550? Any other advise?

Greetings from Germany,
Johannes

Turbos will change the tone of the exhaust. They're almost like little mufflers in a sense. I doubt you'll ever get the same tone and rumble of the NA V8, even if you can fit the E63 exhaust. You can easily make it louder, but it won't necessarily sound better. If you're worried about warranty issues, better off leaving it alone IMO.

I used to drive a turbo 4 cylinder that had only a single glasspack muffler after the cat, and that thing still sounded like it was wheezing through a straw.

Yeah, I knew that. However, were you ever able to listen to an Audi RS6 Avant (4B)? This car just sounds awesome with it's 4.2 Liter TwinTurbo-Setup without being too loud. Hmmm.
