Should I lower with 19" ?

Looking to replace stock 18" amg wheels with 19".. I think the original wheels have to much gap in the rear.

Would lowering be necessary, or will 19" satisfy? Just looking for a clean, original flush look.

Thanks.

depending on wheel wide and offset and tyre size.

any picture of your new wheel?

This is the rim, its available in offset of either 35 & 45 :

I have seen w212's with 19" and still notice the gap in rear... so wasn't sure if lowering is common sense when moving up in size ?!

in UKDM

there is a factory option 19 inch for AMG sport W212 only with 19x9.5 et48 275/30/19 tyre, perfect looking, so with same tyre and et45 just looks the same!

The overall diameter of the wheel/tire should not change. So the gap would remain the same.

depends what is more important to you, quality of the ride or aesthetics. The car will definitely look more aggressive and custom lowered because you'll lose some of that wheel gap (which will definitely remain with the larger wheel). However, whenever you lower the car the will be some degradation of ride quality. Bottom is line putting bigger wheels on is going to do very little for removing the gap, it may but just ever so slightly. If you want it to have that "tucked" or even flush look you're going to need to lower it.

To my knowledge both oemwheelsplus and usarims are replicas hence "AMG style", and that is the price for 4 wheels. A lot of people have purchased from them though and I haven't heard any complaints.

thanks for the information, I'm glad I'm now aware of this before I ordered them and expected a whole different look.

I think I may just keep the original wheels and maybe refinish them in a different color.

Hold on... The offset does matter a little as lower offsets will make the car look lower because of the top part of the tire becoming closer to the outside of the fender.

It's a balance between ride height and "flush" wheel/tire fitment to achieve the perfect look you are going for. Too low of an offset and too "square" of a tire will have you rubbing. Too high an offset and too "rounded" a tire will have you wanting to drop more.

It's best to take some measurements of the current setup and then use a wheel calculator to find out what some different results may look like.

What's weird is that 20s look good on and e63. But look to big on that white car.

What'd your method to lower. Links?

maybe the angle of the picture it look a little big but it actually look pretty well, i don't know what it called but the space for where the wheels go on the car are big and the car it self is big also so i don't think anything lower then 20" looks to big on a w212.

But no this car isn't lowered, but the way I'm going to do it to mines is a guy i know he use to work for a mercedes dealership here in my country but ended up opening his own shop and he can lower it with the mercedes computer (i think it called the DAS or something) he did it to a friend of mines, pretty clean and doesn't need any additional parts or anything removed, he can put it at any level. I'm suppose to go today to tell him if i do ill try to record the process.

(sorry for any bad grammar, write better in spanish)

i think the tires size also makes a difference in the look, depending on how much sidewall is still there
